Day 4,522

The Farm-th of July!

It was their most-ever favorite way to spend the Fourth of July! These children LOVE Mrs. Pam’s Funny Farm and we’re so grateful for her always-open invite.

But after a long day fighting off the nausea, our night ended a lot differently than we had planned.

We were supposed to go downtown for the annual fireworks show, but to the kids’ disappointment, I couldn’t bring myself to walking around in that kind of heat while feeling the way I was. So, we went and got ice cream instead and drove around our neighborhood looking at all our neighbors’ firework displays. And you know, we probably got just as good a show as we would’ve if we’d gone downtown!

Poor Heater though. She cowered in the shower all night and was so so afraid :(

Happy Independence Day!

Day 4,516

The Puke Bowl

And then…sickness struck.

Hello puking stomach bug.

What began with Bearett puking in a garbage can at the grocery store ended with the whole house coming down with the 24-hour puke fest.

Motherhood wouldn’t be complete without it!

Day 4,513

The Sister Sunday

How she doesn’t wake up with black eyes or a broken nose, I do not know. It’s the ultimate scavenger hunt: what position will Molly be in when she falls asleep? And what about when she wakes up?!

Playing a game of Who’s Who on Mom’s lap!

All the sister love on a beautiful Sunday morning.

Once a month, Adam teaches the 1st-5th graders on Sunday morning. We love worshipping in song with them and all the rest of the 3-6 year olds at the end!

Sundays and Lego builds just go together :)

Day 4,510

The DOUBLE DIGIT BUBBA!!!

HE’S TEN!
*10*
TEN, y’all!!

And he’s just as adventurous, curious, dirty, funny, and smelly as ever!

To celebrate his special day, he chose a beach/friend party and what a perfect summer day it was! Our friends came and enjoyed hotdogs, fruit, popsicles, and big giant waves to ride!

Our boy is getting SO big and I’m still staggering at the thought of having a ten year old in our home! He’s taken on such a leadership role with the girls and tries to “shepherd” them whenever he gets the chance. He’s got plenty of room for maturity and growth in this area haha, but it’s so encouraging to see him step up in areas that the Lord has designed him for.

Our boy is incredibly creative, LOVES to read anything he can get his eyes on, has treasure-finding superpowers, is a master sister-provoker, and has a filing system kind of mind that has earned him the nickname, “The Walking Encyclopedia.”

He’s a history loving, chicken training, karate chopping, art creating, mushroom obsessing, mess making wild man who’s got a heart of compassion and kindness that rivals any other. He’s all boy, all trouble, all crazy, and all ours!!

Happy birthday, my dearest boy.

You are loved. You are cherished. You are causing me all the gray hairs. You are chosen. You are mine.

I love you Baby Boy!
And I’m so thankful that the Lord gave you life, and life abundantly. I pray you would recognize the goodness of your Creator. The love of your Creator. The mercy and grace and compassion of your Creator. And that you’d cry out to Him in repentance and faith as Lord of your life. That you would be used in whatever way He would have to bring Him the most glory and you the most good.
All my love, Bubby.

Day 4,496

The Blessing of a Borrowed Pool

On your mark.
Get set.
Go…

…to sleep!

Day 4,491

The Boice Bride-to-Be

Our church is currently exploding with new marriages AND WE ARE PUMPED ABOUT IT! It’s always such a joy to celebrate with these young ladies and share with them gifts and wisdom before they begin a new kind of life with their husbands. We love you, Mrs. Almost-Boice!

Until—Lord willing—we’re celebrating these girls in a similar fashion, we’ll continue training them up in *all* the ways, including finding creative tricks to clean all those hard-to-reach places!
