Day Fourteen Hundred and Forty-Five

The Ninth Move (at least)

Yesterday, Amelia and I woke up to Daddy making oatmeal at 7AM. He handed off the oatmeal - my favorite morning breastmilk enhancer - grabbed my bags, escorted us to the rental car, and kissed us goodbye. Five hours later, were were deboarding the plane in New Orleans. Just me and the babe.

With an entire apartment to pack by myself, I was feeling overwhelmed. Amelia wouldn't go to sleep and was barely content enough to sit alone. I managed to pack up the kitchen, sip on my granita (the best thing about going back to NOLA - thanks Puccinos!), and get a few smiles from my Girl before she decided that it was going to be her way...or nobody's way. So we did it her way. And sat on the couch for two hours doing nothing while she did her thing. I was about to lose it, but then she fell asleep. Finally, my time to shine.

Somehow, I morphed into Super Packer and got almost every single item of ours mashed into the truck before Millie woke back up. I thought this would never happen. I was done with the truck - and had everything in it - by 7PM. Holy smokes.

And then, it was Baby-Wearing-Clean-Up Time.

With the help of Tiffany...who's evening visit was EXACTLY what this mama needed...we were able to vacuum, dust, eat, and scrub while handing the baby back and forth until it was all done. I'm so so blessed by your friendship and kindness. Thank you for helping me when I needed it most. We love you Tiff!

And we LOVE this photo.
When I arrived in NOLA yesterday afternoon, I wasn't thinking of my refrigerator's contents. I might've actually forgotten to look into it at all if Adam hadn't reminded me that he didn't remove a single thing from it since he was last there. Awesome, I shuddered. Miraculously, there was nothing rotten in there besides a decrepit old lemon. Otherwise, just a bunch of organic condiments I was dreading to throw in the trash. And then I opened up my freezer. And cried. I forgot all about my breastmilk! There was at least 70 ounces in our freezer and my heart was breaking to throw it away. I can't do it. I cried to Adam that I didn't know what to do, so he told me to take a load off and just dump it - "you can make more."

NO.
No. No. No.
I couldn't toss it.
Impossible.
So, I panicked. Cried some more. And then I realized...FACEBOOK!
I messaged every mommies group I could think of and finally, after an hour or two, I found a mama in NOLA in desperate need of breastmilk!!!! So, at 9:30 PM, Amelia and I walked outside our apartment and gave the sweetest, most determined mommy, 70 ounces of breastmilk, all our condiments, some grassfed beef, and a couple pounds of organic chicken so she could feed her three-month-old the best way she knows how!!!! I've never enjoyed giving a gift as much as I did last night, and now that I understand more closely the plight of an underproducing mama, I have every intention to keep on pumping and keep on giving! Praise God for his sustenance!

I did keep the ice cream for myself though.
Guilty.
And even without a proper utensil to eat it with, I've never felt more satisfied with a scoop of vanilla in my life. We're officially all moved out of apartment #8.
2001 Cypress Creek Road #D127, farewell, my old friend.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Seven

The Kitchen Helper

She doesn't like being left out of the action. Ever. And so, here she is, my newest (and cutest) kitchen aid and recipe reader. Still trying to figure out just exactly what she means by gaaaaagaaaagaaaaaageeeeeee, but I'm pretty sure it meant avocado.

Gosh, I just love every little part of her!

Day Thirteen Hundred and Seventy-Five

The Winners

I just...
I'm not...
I can't even...
Oh my gosh, this is real life.

My house is a disaster. It's a fact that maybe I'd be ashamed of...if I didn't just finish galavanting across America (and Canada) for the past three weeks with an infant. I'm trying to cut myself some slack here as I look around, but seriously? How did this even happen?! I need a robot. Or a maid. Or a baby who's not currently experiencing growing pains, taking every second of my attention. Actually, I just need to close my eyes and continue cuddling. Because her snuggles are a bajillion times more important than my messy home. And at least all the diapers are in the trash can. So we win.

Also, somehow, in all our travels, I lost my Sonicare toothbrush. It's gone. Disappeared. Vanished. Buh bye. No idea where it could be. Darnit. However, I found quite the deal on these new brushes and I couldn't pass it up. So, I have a messy house but clean teeth. That's a double win if you ask me.

And triple win when you have someone this beautiful snuggling your chest while shopping Whole Foods. So there.

Day Thirteen Hundred and Thirty-Two

The P90feet

So we didn't do much Cinco de Mayo-ing yesterday.
The only beer in the fridge was a heavy dark one and I didn't have any taco seasoning.
(Yes, I'm allowed to drink an occasional beer. It actually helps with my milk supply!)
In any case, there was no beer. No tacos. No celebrations.
Just me and my MillieGirl.
Which actually, is celebration enough for me. Gosh I love her.
We laid low instead.
Worked out.
I p90x'd...she p90zzzzzzzz'd.

Only, it's really distracting to workout while watching your baby sleep right in front of you.
I couldn't help but stop to take pictures when she moved. Yes, I'm obsessed. But c'mon! How could I not be when she does things like this?! Her feet kill me. They're the cutest little extremities I've ever seen. Even though they're like, way big. Which only means she'll be tall. And that, we like!

I just love those little toesies...

And that little chunky face.
What I don't love, though, is that I had to move her up a size in diapers yesterday. Size 2 already!
With blowouts happening more often than I'd like, it had to be done. And it makes me so sad because she's growing up so fast!

Day Thirteen Hundred and Thirty

The Fifth Sleepy Start

In the day time, I only let Mommy put me down to sleep if I'm:
1) Fast asleep - meaning I'm no longer sucking on my binky
2) On my tummy, unswaddled

Yesterday, Mommy succeed in both those stipulations, so I let her get ready while I snoozed on the couch. Originally, she placed my pretty close to the back of the couch, but realizing that I'm starting to squiggle-move more than ever, she pulled the coffee table up flush with my temporary sleeping quarters, just in case.

And good thing she did. Because by the time she was done fixing her hair, I had managed to cuddle my way over to the edge of the couch and onto the coffee table! Freaking Mommy out is fun sometimes!
She wasn't mad though. Probably cuz I have such cute fat legs.

I continued my slumber mostly all day.
Even during Dad's entire fifth start of the season.
Mommy really loves to watch Daddy, so I let her have her time with him. I needed the extra Zzzzs anyways. He did pretty good I guess. Well, besides the walks. Mom doesn't like when he walks guys. Dad doesn't like it even more. But I guess he did sort of make up for it...with his first hit of his professional career!! Dad hit an RBI line-drive single between the third baseman and short stop and helped his cause in getting the W! Yaaaaay Daddy!

His line:
6IP, 7H, 2ER, 3BB, 2K
A hit and the win!!
He's 2-1 now with a 3.42 ERA

But Dad, for real. This is how I feel about you walking guys.
You quit that and I'll quit this.
Mom would appreciate it, I'm sure.

Day Thirteen Hundred and Twenty-Six

The Growing Pains

La dee da.
Hanging with the Babe. Making Hubs dinner.
Everything's peachy...

Not.
And Millie says, "Who you lookin' at?"
The poor girl is going through a growth spurt currently. It's making her miserable. Aaaaand...everybody else. She's cranky and fussy and doesn't let me put her down. She fights sleep harder than ever before and is guzzling milk like pre-Christian Adam did with beer back in his Coug days. That's a lot of milk. And so, we're making do with what we know (which isn't a lot). Mostly: feed, feed, cuddle, feed, jiggle (softly duh). My sister suggested a bath. I think we'll try that out tonight. Thankfully I have my LilleBaby carrier to keep her close and my hands free. Otherwise I'm a stay-at-home-couch-sitter-with-rock-hard-biceps and not much more.

And even when days are long, emotions are high, and baby is hurting, we have a Daddy who always makes things (a whole lot) better.
Thanks for being so wonderful to us, Adam. You're the dearest and sweetest helper I could've ever asked for.

Day Thirteen Hundred and Seven

The Days with Dad

Daddy zuberts!

And Daddy diaper changes.
("Mom, make sure he's doing it right?!)

Yesterday, Millie turned 6 weeks.
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S BEEN SIX WEEKS ALREADY.
It's hard to even imagine - or remember - our days before her. Nothing gives me greater joy than watching the two of them together. I'm absolutely loving, savoring, and cherishing every moment with my two most favorite people in the world. God is good. And my family is sweet.

Day Thirteen Hundred and Four

The "Hows" of Life

This is how you shade a sleeping infant while packing up your hotel room.

This is how Apartment #8 looks after finally moving in.

This is how God's provided for us (yet again) - a borrowed truckload of (free) household items. Thank you Alan and Judi!

This is how you define perfection.
