The Party Bunter

You're confused.

Very confused.

Because Adam is a pitcher...and that's him at the PLATE!

With a bat in his hands...bunting! Say whaaaaaaat?!

Well, the Miami Marlins are apart of the National League, and in that league, the pitchers get to hit. So, beginning in AA, pitchers are allowed at-bats! Adam will be hitting (mostly bunting) all season in Jacksonville!

It was so much fun watching him at the plate. I've never seen Adam hit before, so this might take a little getting used to! To tell you the truth, it kind of scares me, but that's the name of the game so I better learn to accept it! In two at-bats (ABs), Adam got one bunt down and fouled out on the other. And for a guy who hasn't seen a pitch since high school, I have to admit that I was pretty impressed with my man! Yeah!

The rest of the day followed suit: it was really good.

I got my first charm shipment in...and holy smokes, I am just so excited! They're so cute!! I'm really impressed with the incredibly wide selection of charms that Origami Owl offers...though, I would suggest just two more: a diabetic ribbon and a GIRAFFE! Equipped with all my new goodies, my night was extra sweet. I had previously planned on hosting my first small Origami Owl party with my women's bible study, but when I got there, a surprise party was awaiting me instead! We ate, drank, talked, and Origmai Owled! (Hehehe). It was wonderful. These ladies have been such an encouragement to me these past few months and I've learned so much about the Lord through their own walks with Him. Their wisdom and grace have opened my eyes even wider to God's perfect love and I'm just so thankful for their words, thoughts, and prayers. It's been a HUGE blessing to be apart of this group and I'm truly going to miss spending my Thursday nights with them.

Day Five Hundred and Fifty-Four

The St. Patrick's 70th Birthday Celebration

Surprise!!!

Sondra turns 70 (35 years old with 35 years experience) on Wednesday, and yesterday, her family and friends threw a surprise party to let her know just how special she truly is to all of us. As we celebrated, I ate way too many pretzel M&Ms...and cake and ice cream. Hey, Sondra's worthy of breaking Paleo if you'd ask me!

Dennis made Sondra a Living Locket! And it's beautiful. 

Her story is so special and now she can wear it wherever she goes.

These two are just so wonderful. Adam and I look up to our sweet friends with great respect and admiration and can only hope and pray that after 50 years of marriage, we can share the same smiles as they do.

The celebration continued...

Right outside our back porch. 

Abacoa shut our street down once again to party with the Irish. We love where we live! And while I cooked lunch, waiting for Adam to return from the field, I got to listen to this Irishman sing songs about his homeland.

Green everywhere! 

They even brought in some sweet little tap dancing/Irish jigging girls to entertain the crowd! Too cute! And that little boy! Oh dear! Hilarious!

And finally, we finished off our day with these friends at Baseball Chapel. We're so thankful that God is in everything. Even baseball.

The Facelifts

My little business got a facelift yesterday!

I went out and purchased some items for my Origami Owl jewelry bar parties that I'll eventually be hosting!! I'm so excited! I especially love the owl necklace stand! Too sweet!

The grassy field next to Roger Dean Stadium is also in the process of getting a facelift.

They broke ground on this a few days ago, and eventually, it'll be home to beautiful hotel for all the Spring Training fans to stay in! Our little neighborhood is about to get a lot busier!

I finished my business cards (which are now in the process of being printed at Sir Speedy) and then started on my labels. I created these little beauties to stick onto all my handouts and I'm really happy with how they turned out! Makin' progress :)

The Long Awaited Cornbread!

Every spring, a Women's Conference is held for the ladies of both the major and minor league baseball players, coaches, and staff. A Christian organization called Baseball Chapel hosts the event and everyone is invited. Yesterday marked my second year in attendance and once again, I left feeling encouraged, capable, and mostly ready for the crazy days of summer. I had the opportunity to speak with many of the ladies who've already been through the minor league scramble and I feel fortunate and blessed to have the time I did with them. They offered me lots of tips and tricks to prepare me for the unexpected days ahead, but hopefully, I won't have to put the information to much use this year (at least not until the end!) Most of them have moved far too many times, and truth be told, I'm hoping for a nice long stint in AA this year before heading elsewhere (like...MIAMI!? Hey, a girl can have dreams!) in September.

Oh you know...

Just busy at WORK!

(And yes, the two computers are completely necessary!)

NINE WEEKS OF PALEO...CHECK!

It's been quite the journey with my new "diet" these past few months, and honestly, I'll likely continue it. Mostly. But last night was MY night, and my crave for cornbread was finally satisfied. Gosh, taco casserole...I've missed you. Also yesterday, I ate half of a Panera cookie, one biscuit, and a light drizzle of dressing on my salad. But nothing else. And yes, my tummy hated me. I think that'll do for now. This diet has totally changed my outlook on food and I'm truly thankful for it. Oh, and I was measured again. I lost a total of 4 inches in 9 weeks (and three of the weeks, I couldn't workout!).  Wahoo! I love Paleo :)

Day Five Hundred and Forty-One

The First Shipment (!!!!)

The beginnings of my new business arrived promptly on my doorstep yesterday morning. 

And I was so happy I could scream.

So, I did!

Then, I immediately ripped into my shipment and found so much to smile about. This company just makes me happy. It's so colorful, fresh, personal, and completely original. Right up my alley ;) In my starter kit, I received various charms and dangles, a few chains, two plates, and four lockets. And then...all the necessities to sell, advertise, organize, and package the Living Lockets. SOOO FUN!

And yes, from the shipment, my new silver locket was birthed! Every time I look at it (which was all of yesterday...and today), I'm reminded of the incredible gifts the Lord has blessed me with. From Washington to Florida, and everywhere in between, I have much to be thankful for:

The Origami Owl Business Launch

Hi!

My name's Kendall...and...I'm a part business owner!

(Internal cheer and fist pump!)

As of yesterday, I'm an Independent Designer for a jewelry company called Origami Owl (see my new ad to the right?!!). I sell personalized Living Lockets that look a little something like the one pictured above. And can I just say: I'm totally and completely head-over-heels in love with mine. Everywhere I go, people comment on my necklace, asking questions about what it is and what all the charms mean. It's already been a fun and unique way of sharing my story with people I might not normally share it with...and, I just really think my locket is beautiful. Every time I look at it, I'm reminded about the things in this life that matter most to me, and immediately, I smile.

Completely disassembled, this is what the Living Locket looks like. My "Inspire" plate is one of several words and colors to choose from, as is the actual locket itself. And the charms...there's like...a lot of them :) 

I'm so excited about my company and ready to take on this new opportunity. For a while, I've been looking for things to do for "me" and when I found this, it just fit. 

I love writing. I love words. And I love stories. 

These are just a different way to tell them.
