Day 4,523

The Stomach Bug Without Mercy

It was all fun and games, catching birds,

and learning to crochet at Gammy’s class…

until the next one got sick.

Day 4,508

The Lesson in Saluting and The Lost Tooth

Having arrived home, Gammy contacted me and said she needed to come over asap.

Apparently, these chiclets needed a lesson in how to appropriately salute!

And so, she taught us!

Having herself learned how to salute from her days of service in the military, we were quite thankful for the lesson and proud that our Gammy’s still got it! ;)

AND THEN ELLA MAE LOST HER FIRST TOOTH!

Day 4,502

The Way. The Truth. The Life.

Way. Truth. Life.
“When darkness clouds your way
Jesus turns night to day
When doubt and fear surround
His word is solid ground.

There’s only one way to God never changing
Only one way to truth everlasting
Only one way to life never fading.

He’s the Way.
He’s the Truth.
He’s the Life.”

What an incredible week of gospel-teaching moments and opportunities. We are continually praising the Lord for mercifully directing us to this beautiful, faithful, and relentlessly biblical body of Believes to live life alongside.

And although we’re sad to leave VBS prematurely, we’re off on a short summer vacation!

Day 4,452

The Lizard Librarians

A special friend for our special library! Homeschool living at its finest!

We visit our library at least twice a month and every time we come home with new books, I can hardly pry them off the couch!

Day 4,390

The Slowed Down Life Is the Sweet Life

I have come to realize just how lovely a rooted, slowed down life is, where you can appreciate the big things and the little things intimately and fully without added pressure or expectation. I am so thankful where the Lord has us in life.

The kids got their first homeschool lesson on how a tire is patched. Three minutes: new tire life!

And hey, if you don't want to see the grossest, most interesting booger I've ever seen in my entire life, don't scroll any further.
WARNING: DISGUSTING IMAGE BELOW!
SUPER GROSS!!!
But it's fascinating too.

Witness: Bearett's gigantic, UNBELIEVABLE, nose-shaped booger.
I couldn't even hardly believe it.

Day 4,355

The Kitchen Aids

They want to grow up so fast, it kills me!
Molly and Ella Mae were given their own special cutting knives and any time they get to put their tools to the cutting board, they do!

Bearett and Amelia are quite smitten by their science classes this year. They've gotten to participate in some exciting yet simple experiments at home, this one being, "will an ice cube melt faster in hot freshwater or hot saltwater?" (The answer surprised all of us!)

I've got more and more helping hands available as the days go on. This girl helped Mama make a big ol batch of slow cooker taco soup, just about all on her own!

We're living the real good, simple life.
And we love it.

Day 4,349

The Dirt Boogers

Back to the Farm (Property) for some more work!
We accidentally installed the fences backwards and had to go move the orange fence behind the silt fence.
Technicalities'll get ya every time. Thankfully though, the mistake was minimal and we were able to get it done just quickly enough to take home an entire car full of dusty, dirty children!

Day 4,345

The Word is Life

Day 4,342

The Cards and Cars

Aaaaand, they may be belated (quite belated, at that!), but I'll stick to the old adage, "Better late than never," this time. Conley Christmas cards are out!

And while we were out running the pups, the children got an impromptu lesson on how to dial 911 and what to do when you see an emergency situation.

Day 4,329

The Separate Dates

Girls to the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary!

Bub and Mom to Costco!

And Daddy with Jaeden at work.

Then a little peg doll painting to cap off another busy day.
