Day 3,520

The Day, Full of Hope

Saturday was just about as full as it could get.
Bub played in the semi-championship game to close out his first undefeated season. His  team will play in the final games Friday and Saturday, but as of now, we will not be here for those games—more on that later.

Our undefeated Emeralds!!
We had no expectation other than to practice two weeks with the team before departing for Japan, but here he is four months later holding the first trophy that he thoroughly deserved! Good job this season, Bearett (top row, second from the right)!!! He’s beginning to actually understand the game and for the first time ever, he’s asking to play baseball outside of games and practices. What a fun season!

Directly following his game, we had a meeting to *close* (!!!!!) on the 3 acre Property (yes, THAT one!) we purchased!!!!! It is finalized on Thursday but because we’re currently planning on being out of town by then, we moved up our signing date to Saturday.

We then went back to our favorite tiny apartment, where we met with our architect to begin the process of building our Forever Home!

Then it was naps, supper delivery to a friend, and a baby shower at the gym with our dear girls, celebrating the much anticipated arrival of Coach Jena’s little boy!

Amelia: “We’re going to a baby shower!!”
Bearett: “A baby shower????”
Amelia: “Yeah, cuz Coach Jena is having the baby in the shower!!”
Bearett: “Why would she have a baby in the shower?!”
Amelia: “Ugh, cuz he’s a boy and that’s where they’re born!”

They had such a fun time celebrating with their friends and playing in their huge gym one last time before we leave for a little while. It was tough, but we said goodbye to Ms. Angie and Ms. Taylor—both ladies whom we’ve come to dearly cherish over the course of these last few months. Of all the reasons we’re thankful this season has gone the way it has, forming relationships with the two of them stands right up there, somewhere at the top. You are loved. You are prayed for. You are welcomed always, no matter the time or distance. Thank you for trusting us and loving our babes as you do. We are so grateful.

Day 3,513

The Unanticipated Joys

Bub had his last regular season baseball game on Saturday. From thinking we were only going to be here for two weeks of practice, to completing the entire season—we never could have anticipated it. But what a treat it’s been watching him grow and learn and compete and smile. He has playoffs next week and at this rate, my guess is that we’ll be here to see him win his first championship by the time it’s all said and done!

We got ourselves all cleaned up and later that evening, headed out for a night on the town.

Tacos. Smiles. Ice cream and river views.

Day 3,506

The New Coach Pitch Friends

Saturday done right!
We recently met a family through Bearett's baseball team and have quite enjoyed their company over the last couple months. They just finished building their home and invited us over to splash in their pool and eat pizza, both of which were a hit with the babes.

They played and played.

And never stopped smiling.
We look forward to hanging out again, friends!

Day 3,492

The Workin’ Day

Our days here are always full and we’re enjoying it thoroughly. Yesterday was our church side work day.

In preparation for Easter, our church got to work and she cleaned up so nicely. We sure love it here.

Bub also had a baseball game, in which he went 4 for 4 and scored four times. In “real” baseball, he may not have fared so well, as his first at-bat took about 12 pitches before he finally got a hit, but nobody keeps track of that in coach pitch ;) His coach was quick to tell me though, that he caught Bearett picking his nose and eating it. So there’s that.

With the church work day and Bear’s game colliding, I took the two baby girls with me to watch Bub and left Daddy and Amelia to finish the work at the church. But with work day still in mind, the little girls decided to “clean” the tree by attempting to scrap off the bark. Good job ladies.

With all our work done, next up was a nature-castle-making contest. The boys’ castle was “camouflage.”

Amelia’s castle(?) was uhm, dirt-castle-y.

My castle was—well, I won’t brag about me absolutely crushing the elementary competition ;)

In the end, Daddy awarded the tree vine crowns to the two ladies of the hour and then taught the runner ups twist themselves their own crowns.

It was quite the day—we are full of smiles!

Day 3,485

The Coach Pitch Season Continues

Even though Daddy’s baseball is currently on hold, Bubba’s isn’t!

And that makes us THIS happy!
We’ve missed the last few games this month due to moving , spring break, and last minute going away parties, but we’re loving watching our boy out there on the field.
Bearett is learning more and enjoying his teammates unlike any year before. He’s also beginning to understand that he needs to get better in order to play the positions he wants to play—something he’d not yet come to terms with until yesterday. Whether he does the work or not is the question that remains. He likes baseball during baseball, but at home, it’s not much on his mind.

Exploring and digging and creating and hunting and finding—that is what he loves most! It could be that his desire for baseball grows, but there’s no pressure either way—only that whatever he does, he does it faithfully and works hard at it.

Goodnight!
(Yes, that’s Molly!!!)
