Day Fourteen Hundred and Ninety-Five

The...Richmond, Kentucky

Sorry for the brief posts the past few days.
We're busy here in Kentucky. Sorta.
Mostly, I just don't have the energy to write a lot presently.
This. Mom. Is. Tired.

So, we went to Grandpa Larry and Grandma Tracy's house in Richmond for the very first time. Amelia sat in their grass. She was very confused.

Then, the puppy licked her face.
And she was double confused.

Not sure she likes the grass.
And definitely not sure how she's feeling about puppies.
But she's adorable. And the three - well, five - of them together was worth her possible discomfort. I just love this!

Then, off to dinner!
Amelia is about the most curious 7-month-old alive.
And she has to have everything YOU have.
Yesterday's must-have: Mommy's rolled up silverware.

Hmmm...tastes sorta...

...papery. Oh! I like paper! Nom nom nom!!!

You know what else tastes good? Straws! Oh yeah, her favorite. Well, behind spoons, that is.

Cracker Barrel enthusiasts, unite!

<3

Love you guys.
Even you, behind the camera, Auntie Kim!

Day Fourteen Hundred and Ninety-Four

The Second Day of More Surprises!

While Daddy was finding everything in the woods besides deer...

Amelia and I were finding - for the second morning in a row - surprise after surprise.

We walked downstairs to the entire length of Auntie's couch...

...covered in new clothes!

Seriously, the whole thing!

If this isn't the definition of a spoiled niece, I don't know what is!

Actually, I take that back.
This is the definition of a spoiled niece.
Yet another surprise...this time for Mama.
Say hello to my newest, most favorite, and exciting crafting tool EVER!
It's a Silhouette HD...it cuts stuff. Stuff that makes really cute and even awesomer stuff. Like...Amelia's Zephyrs onesies. And her Marlins onesies. And banners and stickers and boxes and cupcake toppers...and basically anything you could cut with scissors...this thing cuts it perfectly.

KIM! I don't know how I ever managed to be on the receiving end of such kindness and thoughtfulness. But I'm truly grateful and hope you realize just how much your sweet gestures mean to us. Crazy wow! Thank you!!!

We ran a few more crafting errands yesterday before meeting this handsome hunks at home. Millie was so excited to see her Dada and Pa and leapt right in Dad's arms for a photo in Pa's hat. The boys are having a rough go at it in the woods here in Kentucky. The deer are either really good at hiding, not present...or...Dad and Pa, well...that's not nice to say ;)

Hopefully we'll be leaving Lexington with a buck or doe in the bed of our truck. If not, I'm in for an angry husband and an empty freezer. Both: not good.

In other news, Amelia face-smashed into her walker yesterday.
It was sad. She hasn't figured out that she needs to move her feet too, when the walker moves. In time (and bruises?) I guess.

And Hunter, when asked what he wants for his birthday, excitedly exclaimed, "I want a wheel chair like Papa!" Ha! The brain of an almost-five-year-old!

Day Fourteen Hundred and Sixty-Nine

The Baseball Baby Necessities

With only a few days to spend with my grandparents, I had to show them everything I know about being a Baseball Baby.

First, you need the right clothes. Anything at all will do. Even if it's just a diaper. Us kids can make anything look adorable. Including poop. Yeah, poop. Yesterday, I wore the most adorable teal romper (to compliment my eyes, Mama said), but I couldn't hold it any longer and pooped all over my newest Posh Peanut addition.

And so second, you need a sink. Any sink will work. And maybe some soap. That way, when you poop all over your clothes, your mom can run to the bathroom and wash it off. Then you can put it back on, of course.

Next, you need toys. Actually anything will do. A water bottle. A spoon. A straw. A toothbrush. Especially the banana shaped kind. A necklace. A dirty diaper? Oh, earrings attached to Mom's ears are the best!

You'll need some patience too. Kids love to squirm. Duh.

You definitely need a bow or five. It's the worst when they ask "how old is he?"

You need some on-the-field action.
The Nationals President's Race is the prime example.

And a *few* photo opps too!
Mom does a great job of this. She makes sure to get me in all the best ones! (Hiiiiiii Presidents! What big heads you have! My daddy thinks you're really funny. I like when he laughs.)

You'll most definitely need to bring your snuggles. Baseball Babies LOVE game-time cuddles and lovin.

But most of all, you need someone to watch! The kind of someone who lights up your day and makes fart noises on your cheeks.

The kind of someone who makes baseball his career and not his life.

The kind of someone who loves unconditionally and makes you laugh without abandon.
I call that someone Dada.
And watching him while he works makes every single baseball game worth it.

He's just...the best.

Well, there ya go, guys!
What do you think of my Baseball Baby Necessities?

Smile if you agree!!
Agreed!
Love you, Grandma and Grandpa!

Thanks for raising such a good Daddy for me, Grandpa. He's everything I could ever ask for in a Dad.

Two last things:
One: sometimes, Baseball Babies need some post-game worship on Faith Day. To put in all into perspective. Because simply: this is why I'm a Baseball Baby anyways! To point people to Jesus.

And second: this is what Baseball Babies don't need. To semi-witness a three-vehicle accident right outside the field. Last night, Dad had to call 911 as we waited for our Uber and heard a loud crash. We turned around to see a pair of legs fly into the air. Thankfully, everyone was ok, but definitely, we can do without crashes!

Day Thirteen Hundred and Seventy

The Miami Family

Got sent down.
Got some sleep.
Not sure if the sleep was worth it, but for now, we'll take it. Especially when the sleep is this cute.
How, oh how, did this beautiful picture become my life?!

(And yes, you read that clock right. This duo slept past 12:30 in the afternoon.)

We spent yesterday hanging out with family.
The family that traveled thousands of miles to...not see their son throw. Ah fart. Oh well. At least they got to hang with MillieGirl!! Grandma Tracy had yet to meet her, so...all wasn't lost!

Gosh our kid is SO STINKIN CUTE.
And I'm not biased.
Cuz Grandpa thinks so too.

I LOVE TO CHEW MY HANDS!
SLOBBER EVERYWHERE!

After being sent to AAA, Adam was given three days to report back to NOLA.
So, we decided to stay in Miami yesterday and enjoy some time with Amelia's grandparents.

And it was totally worth it.

During season, we've never gotten to hang out with Adam's parents all together, so though we were bummed about not seeing him throw, we made other memories instead. And that's how baseball goes. If you're not flexible, this lifestyle will chew you up and spit you out. I prefer not to be gnawed on. Good thing I was a gymnast - been flexible since 3 years old! ;)

Daddy, Mommy, Grandma Katy, Baby, Grandma Tracy, and Grandpa Larry.
Thanks for dropping everything and coming to see us! Hopefully next time (if/when there is one), things will go a little differently! Love you!

Day One Thousand Two Hundred and Ninety-Two

The Keepers

She's incredible.
They lifted their hands...and she followed suit.
The girl's a baby genius.
And I'm not even biased.
Ok, maybe a little.
But seriously, what almost-one-month-old can track with her eyes and mimic a response?
Not many.
I think we'll keep her.

We'll keep this one too!
In my hands is Little Baby Johnson!
SHE'S 16 weeks old and making her debut in September!
(Her due date's on our anniversary!)
Can't wait to meet Millie's best friend, Auntie Susan! So glad the three of you could hang out with the three of us last night!

Day One Thousand Two Hundred and Ninety-One

The Stay-at-Home Team

Grandpa's here!!
I got to hang out with him lots before he headed to Daddy's baseball game in Port St. Lucie yesterday. I wasn't allowed to go, even though me and Mommy really wanted to. Dad said I was too tired still and that the sun would be too hot. I know he's just looking out for me, but c'mon Dada...you know how much we HATE missing games! At least you did good though! Maybe Grandpa is your good luck charm? Or maybe I'm just your bad luck charm? Nooooooo :(

You threw 4 innings and gave up one hit. I heard that you struck out a few and walked one (bad Dada!). You didn't give up any runs though and apparently all your pitches were working well...even your slider! Yay! We need that slider!

And just like Mr. Josh Martin said one time about you, Dad:
We pray for a clean heart and a dirty slider.

I think all our prayers must be working!

So yeah, while Dad and Pop were out at the field throwing things and running around, me and Mom just hung out at home. It was a good break. I needed it. I think Mommy did too. She's been doing great, but she was pretty tired yesterday. We scrubbed around in sweats and blankets and didn't do our hairs or makeups. Well, I can't wear makeup yet, but I like to watch Mama do hers. I just adore her. She tells me all the time how much she loves being my mommy and that I'm a good girl. I try to be. Mostly I like to sleep and eat. A LOT. Oh my goodness, I LOVE to eat! It's my favorite thing. Mom says that it's hers too. She really likes breastfeeding. I'm glad she does...even in the really early morning when I know she's tired and I'm stealing her sleep. She says she doesn't mind, so that's good, otherwise I'd feel bad. It's just that my tummy is so tiny right now and since I poop a lot, I need to eat and eat at least every 2-3 hours or else I'll be starving!

Another thing I need a lot is my fingernails clipped. They always grow so fast and because I sometimes scratch my face on accident, so Mommy keeps a close eye on them. I think she's the best. We're such a great team and I'm glad she's the one I get to cuddle every day. She's cozy. She tries her best to give me everything I need, and what she can't give me, Daddy can! I love my family!!

Day One Thousand One Hundred and Fifty-Six

The Handsomest Hunters There Ever Were

My boys left early yesterday morning (5:30) for the woods in search of Kentucky's finest buck. Unfortunately, they're still in search of said buck because they returned home 12 hours later, empty handed. Apparently, they saw quite a few Bambis, but either weren't prepared to shoot or didn't have a clear shot. Sounds to me they were probably being a bit picky, buuuuuut I can't vouch for that. All I know is they have 3 days left out there to bring me back dinner for the next 4 months!

And while they search, we create!
Yesterday, Kim taught me how to make tutus! Baby Girl is about to have a wardrobe full of frilly adorableness...
