Day Fourteen Hundred and Eighty-Five

The Miami Movers

We woke up to a whiny, teething baby yesterday.
It was the morning of our ninth move in four years. Yes, NINE IN FOUR. We are nomads.

Preparing for our trip to Georgia on Wednesday and Mommy's five hour day at the spa with the girls (!!!! so excited, yet so worried ha!), Daddy practiced putting Amelia to sleep for her morning nap - and succeeded - before helping me pack our last things into the truck!

Bye Bye Apartment #9!
Thank you for giving us a home for a few months! See ya later!

Helllllloooooo Offseason 2015!!!

We kicked back and celebrated the offseason and our move with Thirsty Turtle wings, a long drive out of Miami...

...and more practice for Mom's spa day in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Turns out, Amelia hates - abhors - the bottle.
We might be in trouble.
Correction: Adam might be in trouble.
Ahhhhh!

Day Fourteen Hundred and Eighty-Three

The Packing and Moving of Apartment #9

Sleep, Baby. Sleep.
Our poor girl has a little bout of the teething pains.
She woke up last night crying. For the first time ever. I was so sad.
She tossed and turned and kicked her feet. I hate knowing she's in pain, but I'm holding off on the Tylenol and teething tablets. Anyone have some other ideas?

Once she's awake, she does better.
Her nose is runny though. No fever. But she's especially attached to me right now. She wants to be held and cuddled, and snuggled. Not a problem! Except...when you're packing another apartment all by yourself. Her 20 pound tiny body doesn't seem so small after a couple hours of packing.

But, we got it all out and moved up to Palm City...where it awaits it's place in our home from the Recchiuti's spare bedroom. We're scheduled to close on our HOME on October 30, pending the appraisal and financing!! Yahoo! And to treat Amelia for being such a sweetie, Auntie Lara brought out the best toys for Millie to enjoy!! She's never seen so much fun in her life!! Hope that took the pain away for a little bit, Baby. I sure love you and I'm really sorry your mouth is so sore.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Eighty-Two

The Grocery Store Win

Who needs a shopping cart when you can whine long enough that Mom'll take you out of the stroller and use that instead?! Mwahaha! The things I get away with because I'm so darn cute! *Smirk*

On the way home, I let her win though. I like looking at the people passing by and feeling the wind in my face. I also like that I can help Mom out by letting her push the groceries on the top of my stroller.  And, my toes mostly taste great at this particular time of day too.

Yesterday might've been our last walk to Whole Foods in Miami this year. Wow. My only regret: not persuading Mommy harder into buying that warm cornbread in the hot foods section. It's sounding so good right now.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Seventy-Four

The Return of Uncle

He's back, he's back!! After a week on the road and an off day in between, Amelia was missing her friend. But for the last week of the season, Uncle Scott is taking over the living room and we're happy to have him!

And yes, in case you were laughing along with me, this is the Big Leagues, and yes, Scott is still sleeping on a blow up mattress in the living room. Hahaha! Gotta love baseball!

Day Fourteen Hundred and Sixty-One

The First Fort

Well, good morning and peek-a-boo to you too, Amelia and Whitacre!
I see you two and Dada were up to some shenanigans while I was showering, yes?!
Whatchya got in that fort of yours?

A baseball, Mom.

Duh.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Fifty-Seven

The Baseball Treasure

Auntie Alejandra is here!
HOORAY!
I've never been happier to see my girl.

The Conley family missed you, Ale.
Dearly.
You're one of the sweetest blessings baseball ever brought us and we're so grateful God placed you into our lives all those years ago. We've been through so much together, but there's not another person I would've rather experienced it with than you. You are a treasure. A heart of gold. And I'm so very proud of the woman you've become. I love you.

And Amelia obviously does too!
She's been waiting and waiting to meet her Tia for 6 months now!

It was well worth the wait though. My heart's overwhelming with happiness!

I love you Ale. As if you were my sister.
So happy you could come visit us for your 23rd birthday. Te amo mucho, my girl.

And Amelia says, "Hey Auntie Ale, look what I can do! I've never done this before, so I waited until you got here to show off to everyone!"

Day Fourteen Hundred and Fifty-Three

The LilleBaby Carrier

Look who's got my girl!
And in the carrier too!
Adam's only attempted this once in Amelia's lifetime, and that time, she hated every second of it. So, maybe he's been a bit hesitant to put her back into it. But not last night! She went in and wouldn't stop smiling!! I think Adam's found a new favorite way to hold our keeeeed!

She loves her LilleBaby carrier. SO much.
But I think she might love FaceTime and...

...cousin Bearett a little bit more!
Hi BearBear! We love you!

Yesterday's off day (finally, after 20 straight games!) was restful, peaceful, and everything wonderful about being home with Daddy.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Fifty-Two

The Sixth Marlin Start

Dad was on the TV again!
The first time I saw him on the screen, there was so much commotion around me that I couldn't focus.  This time, I was in my element and kept a close eye on the guy with my name and number on the back of his jersey. I really love my Dad.

And I sorta like watching games at home. I get to wear my jersey and no pants and lay on the ground if I want to. Plus, I can roll and play and take naps on the bed and listen to them say nice things about my Dada. I think Mom doesn't like it as much though. She was screaming so much more and acting mostly like a lunatic during the second and third innings. Something musta been wrong with her. Or maybe it was the TV. Yeah, the TV musta done something bad. Maybe it's just better if we watch Dad live.

His afternoon game didn't go as well as we thought it might. Dad threw a lot of pitches and ran into a bit of trouble in the 2nd and 3rd. But, he's really tough so he found a way to get through five innings of 3-run ball and left the game in line for the win. Plus, he got his first career MLB RBI, so I mean, it couldn't have been that bad! He just didn't throw first pitch strikes like he's supposed to, and I'll say that maybe he looked just a bit tired. We still saw 94 MPH on the screen though, which is great considering he didn't look as sharp and it's the beginning of September!

^ His hit!! An RBI single!
His line:
5IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 4K, an RBI, and the Win.
He's now 3-1 with a 5.02 ERA in 37.2 IP

And the best thing of all?
Daddy's HOME now!!
I LOVE YOU DAD! AND I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!
Welcome back. The bed is too big and cold without you.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Fifty-One

The Miami Rest

Hair flippin.

Baby kissin.

Sunset watchin.
Baseball lovin.

Amelia and I are thoroughly enjoying our few days of down time and rest! But we're sure missing Daddy!

Speaking of Dada...he was just named to the All-PCL Post-Season team yesterday! Way to go Adam! So proud of him!

Day Fourteen Hundred and Fifty

The Vitamin D Therapy

I've never been more desperate for sunshine than in the past 6 months. I'm not yet comfortable putting sunscreen on Amelia (I'm overprotective, yes, I realize), so my time in the sun has been severely limited. And I'm slowly withering away! But alas! My life is changed at 2PM every day in Miami...as of yesterday! I realized that beginning at 2PM, the sun shines perfectly on our balcony! I can stand half inside, half outside IN THE SUN while watching Millie from just a few feet away! The best of both worlds! This Mama is SO HAPPY! I can feel the Vitamin D brightening up my life already!

Millie, though, is happy enough away from the sun and snoozed on the couch after having her Vitamin D supply replenished through my milk! Happy girls!

Baseball:
Adam throws tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon in Atlanta.
Please, let there be a cloud or twelve in the sky! Haha!
Also, this is really really neat - a radio interview with Adam about his season, what he's learning, and all the changes we made in the offseason:

Day Fourteen Hundred and Forty-Four

The Brickell River Walk

We needed a break.
And a workout.
And a moment to stick our tongues out?
So, Amelia and I played baseball hookie and took some time for ourselves.
And by ourselves, I mean myself.
Because I'm One Tired Mama.

We set off on a little adventure. Right outside our condo. We didn't know what we'd find. But we found it: beauty! The city's not so bad when you're not in your car rushing to a game in traffic that won't move while your baby is screaming bloody murder from the back seat!

Thanking the Lord for His unique provision during this season of our lives. I'm tired. I'm worn out. But I'm energized like never before. This Little Piece of Heaven is a reminder every day of the love the Father has for me. And that's enough to keep my motor running...even though this boat's a little dilapidated-looking at the moment. (I did however, get in a nice short workout with MillieGirl strapped to my chest last night. She's a great workout partner! Even though she never carries her own weight! Ha!)
________________

And then, we packed our bags for our return trip to...NOLA, where an entire apartment awaits our packing of it.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Forty-Three

The Sleepy, Stinky, Sweetest Face

Someone had a good nap.
Binky imprint on the face much?!

Hey Mom! Don't make fun of me!

Just sit me up, give me some toys, and let me watch Baby Einstein for a few minutes while you get ready!

I promise to only make this stinky face once every minute.

The rest of the time, I'll make this one!

Day Fourteen Hundred and Forty-Two

The Fourth Marlin Start

The best wake up call you could ever want.
Better than breakfast in bed.
Better than cinnamon rolls.
Better than...well, you get the point.
Dr. Matlock drove down from Jupiter to Miami to meet Adam in our condo at 9:15AM to remove his subluxations and clear his spine of any interferences before his 1:10PM start agains the Phillies.

I can't speak highly enough of Lucas if I tried. I say that every time, but it's so true. We've never, not ever, met a doctor so passionate, so honest, so informative, so caring. He's helped change our lives - and our family's lives - forever, and I don't know how we'll ever repay him. God has truly blessed us with a man who's heart is pure and who cares for us in a way that nobody else does. The Conleys absolutely love you, Dr. Matlock and your kindness and sacrifice do not go unnoticed! Thank you for everything you continue to provide for us!

All adjusted and ready to go, Adam entered the game yesterday wearing orange and set for his fourth start as a Miami Marlin.

I was positive this was going to be good from the beginning. I had a feeling. Turns out, I was totally wrong.

Adam labored through 3.2 innings of rough baseball. He couldn't find the strike zone. His slider was bad (his words). And he threw way too many balls. By the end of four innings, his pitch count was at 84.

And he didn't even get a hit!

Thankfully, they let him go out and fight in the fifth and the sixth. And it was clear to everyone watching, that Adam finally turned a corner. He got out of jams. He was throwing hard (95!). And you could see him coming alive out there. For the first time, I watched Adam get emotional on the mound. With bases loaded and one out, he struck out two...leaving the field with a double fist pump and setting the tone for the next two innings. Finally, progress!

As his wife, it's hard for me to watch him struggle. I get sick and worry unnecessarily...because I hate seeing him like that. And literally, there's nothing I can do about how he performs. However, watching him compete and breakthrough barriers makes all the heartache completely worth it.

We love you #61. And we're so proud of your efforts out there.

Part of Adam's little fan club!
Auntie Marissa put Amelia to sleep without the binky yesterday!! Amazing! She's the Baby Whisperer, no doubt!

And Bob finally got to meet Amelia!
He's been with us since the early days of Greensboro and now - four years later - he's with us in Miami! So happy you could make it, friend!

Cheeeeeeeeese! Grrrrr! Good job Dada! Even though you got the loss, you're still a winner to me!

His line:
6IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 4BB (1 intentional), 5K, and the loss.
The Marlins were shutout by the Phillies. Adam threw 106 pitches and touched 95 on pitch 104, struck out swinging, and earned his first quality start since being called up. He's now 1-1 with a 4.88 ERA.
