The Bull and the Shrimp, Together Again
Get uuuuup! You two are the worst! We have somewhere special to be!

Mr. Brian and Mrs. Michelle (the days of their mistaken “Mrs. Shell” have sadly ended—I thought it was cute) are here! In Durham! At their home! And we get to go see them, even before the game!

They invited us over for a swim date before the two best friends, each of the opposing team, rode together to work.

And lucky us, we got to stay the whole afternoon and hang out with our favorite Mrs. Michelle, whom we just simply adore. As if that weren’t enough, to add even more sweetness to our day, we enjoyed the company of another baseball wife and her babe!

It was the kind of afternoon I was longing for—kids playing in the backyard and me getting to sit down to fellowship with likeminded women. I’d been missing my friend and having her near has been a kindness to me that I am thankful to the Lord for. This past year has gone anything but “planned,” but looking back at all that’s happened, I am grateful to be exactly where I am. Love you, Michelle.

We went back to the tiny cottage for a pregame nap, and while I was putting Molly to sleep, Bearett “did the breakfast dishes” for me. Wednesday’s breakfast was oatmeal, eggs, and bacon. And you’d better believe it, my servant hearted helper tried his darndest to clean up every dirtied dish. I knew before I even turned the corner that bacon grease would be covering every inch of my Airbnb kitchen. I was right. I just didn’t anticipate the bathroom door handle and entire sink surrounding would be covered too. The teaching moment was an easy one. Getting the grease off everything within a four foot radius, not so much. Thanks for your thoughtfulness in trying to help though, Bub. You’re welcome to do the dishes every day. Please, in fact, do the dishes every day. Just leave the bacon grease to the Mama.
The game that night was delayed by rain and resumed between downpours, so we decided to stay in and finish our puzzle and packing instead. It was a good choice. The best, actually. Can’t be starting things without finishing them, right?!
