Day 3,596

The Miller Sleepover

Ok, somebody fire the snooze button. What a terrible thing anyways. We gotta gooooooo. Check out of our Airbnb was Thursday at 11 AM, which would be totally fine in normal circumstances, but when my house wakes up at 10:30 every day, it’s a little more difficult.

Bearett took one last photo and said one last farewell to his tree fort.

And then we packed the car, cleaned up our little cottage, ate breakfast, and headed to our new, permanent apartment until either Adam gets called up, traded, or spends the rest of the season here in Durham. No more moves for us until then. THANK GOODNESS.

Welcome to our new home.

We were so excited to unpack and settle in. Only problem: our apartment is unfurnished—yeah you read that right—and it wasn’t until Wednesday night that we learned our rented furniture wouldn’t be delivered until Friday morning. Our Airbnb was already booked for Thursday night, so staying there wasn’t an option. The new apartment wasn’t an option because we had no beds, and honestly, another hotel might’ve broken me.

So Mrs. Michelle and Mr. Brian invited us over for a sleepover!! We dropped Dad off at work, went to a park, and then finally cozied up in their home for nap time!

Talk about grateful hearts—every one of us was filled with joy and thankfulness for the unexpected grace. Including the family renting their home, 11 of us comfortably spent the night together with friends we dearly love.

I think this may have been their favorite night so far in Durham—after the boys came home from the game (a horribly bad game, I would add), they got to enjoy more quality time with our friends, even getting to pray and sing with them before bed.

And then, on a mound of blankets, they had a true sleepover.
Brain and Michelle, my friends, thank you so much for loving us so well. This was in every way unexpected, but if I’ve learned anything this season, it’s that the Lord is never caught off guard, always near, and ever present. He intimately works to provide in the lives of His people; for our good and to His glory. He is worthy of our trust, our obedience, and our lives. We are so humbled and so grateful.
