Day 4,502

The Way. The Truth. The Life.

Way. Truth. Life.
“When darkness clouds your way
Jesus turns night to day
When doubt and fear surround
His word is solid ground.

There’s only one way to God never changing
Only one way to truth everlasting
Only one way to life never fading.

He’s the Way.
He’s the Truth.
He’s the Life.”

What an incredible week of gospel-teaching moments and opportunities. We are continually praising the Lord for mercifully directing us to this beautiful, faithful, and relentlessly biblical body of Believes to live life alongside.

And although we’re sad to leave VBS prematurely, we’re off on a short summer vacation!

Day 4,209

The Way He Should Go

Lord, my heart!
I am so thankful.

"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."

The Mom Who's Always Looking

Mom, look!! There's a circle in the sky!

Mom, look! There's a puppy in a diaper!!
(Welcome to the days of female dogs in heat)

Mom, look! We have so many new friends!

Mom, look! Dad did it!

Mom, look! We're sooooooo responsible.

Day 4,164

"Molly, where are you? Are you all ready for church yet?"
"MAHM! I'm writing all the people at church in my new notebook, Mom! I'm right here!"

"Molly, where are you?"
I'M ON STAGE WITH ALL MY SIBLINGS SINCE I'M THREE NOW, MOM!!

"Mom, look!!

Day Sixteen Hundred and Twenty-Three

The Brrrrds

Watching birds with Dad...

...while the sun set.
Such a pretty night.
And so much fun seeing Mimi point at the flying things in the sky and say "brrrd!"

Day Fourteen Hundred and Eighty-Eight

The Arranged

Good morning Georgia!

You sure are lovely!

Lovely especially for a first date stroll!

These two have been arranged to be married in 20-something years.

So, hopefully they like each other. So far, so good!

:)

Loving this place.

SO much.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Eighty-One

The Last Flight of Baseball 2015

As the sun set last night, Amelia and I officially said bye bye to the 2015 season of baseball adventures with Dada. We were happy and sad and content and anxious. There's so much to do in Miami before our current lease expires on October 6th, but we hate missing Daddy in the meantime. At least there will be no travel delays, no airport nights, and no rushing around an unfamiliar city in the upcoming days. Well, not for Amelia and I. Dad might have a different story though. We'll wait and find out on Sunday!

This year, I think it's safe to say we really made good use of this blog's title: "A Life in Flight."
Farewell, 2015 Baseball Travel.
Until next year!

But wait!
Before we left Tampa, there was one last thing on our agenda!
Meet Tatiyana!

Hiiiii Tati!

This little one-year-old angel is Auntie Alejandra's niece!

Amelia was clearly happy to meet a new friend.
I'm quickly learning that she absolutely loves other children and is quite curious about them. It's so much fun to watch her interact, which makes me excited about the offseason and all the time she'll get with her neighborhood and church friends!

We love you Ale, Mafe, and Tati!!!
SO glad we finally got to meet our new girl!

Day Fourteen Hundred and Forty-Four

The Brickell River Walk

We needed a break.
And a workout.
And a moment to stick our tongues out?
So, Amelia and I played baseball hookie and took some time for ourselves.
And by ourselves, I mean myself.
Because I'm One Tired Mama.

We set off on a little adventure. Right outside our condo. We didn't know what we'd find. But we found it: beauty! The city's not so bad when you're not in your car rushing to a game in traffic that won't move while your baby is screaming bloody murder from the back seat!

Thanking the Lord for His unique provision during this season of our lives. I'm tired. I'm worn out. But I'm energized like never before. This Little Piece of Heaven is a reminder every day of the love the Father has for me. And that's enough to keep my motor running...even though this boat's a little dilapidated-looking at the moment. (I did however, get in a nice short workout with MillieGirl strapped to my chest last night. She's a great workout partner! Even though she never carries her own weight! Ha!)
________________

And then, we packed our bags for our return trip to...NOLA, where an entire apartment awaits our packing of it.

Day Fourteen Hundred and Twenty-Eight

The Frequent Flyers

Time to get up!

And fly to Miami!
We have a two-day series against the Red Sox before heading to St. Louis.
On the to-do list for this teeny family: figure out how to wash our clothes from a hotel, possibly find a place to call "home" for the next month and a half, and cheer Daddy on for a win on Wednesday!

Day Fourteen Hundred and Twenty-Five

The Fourth Relief Appearance

It's weird not to title this blog post, "The ____ Start" because Adam has been a starter his whole career. BUT, we'll take whatever the Marlins give us, and if that's a job in the bullpen, then...awesome!!! I won't argue with this view one bit!

Upon closer inspection...nope, still not going to argue! Haha! So fun! I actually think he looks quite sexy in his bullpen-issued Minion backpack, worn by the youngest rookie in the 'pen! Gives me an idea of what he'll look like in a few years when the babes are older! (Auntie Kim, I know you're loving this!!!)

We weren't expecting Adam to throw yesterday, so instead of sitting in our regular seats, one of the wives, our chiropractor (Dr. Matlock is here!!!), a few of his friends, and me all sat out by the bullpen and watched the game from an angle that's been completely foreign to me.

We were having such a nice time...watching Adam just sit there. Haha. I've never been so mesmerized by my husband sitting in a chair! We were talking, and laughing, telling jokes and playing with Amelia when quite suddenly, Adam was up and hustling around. Our starter suffered a line drive to the knee and Adam was called on to pitch long relief.

Amelia got to watch her Daddy (she actually saw him!) stretch and warm up before we walk-sprinted (in our wedges) all the way to our seats before Adam ran in.

Call to the bullpen!

Adam threw three innings against the Atlanta Braves and had two at-bats.

In his first at-bat in the top of the Fourth, Adam smacked a single to left field for his very first hit of his MLB career!!!! In his second at-bat, he sac bunted a runner to second before calling it a day.

His hit!!

(And yes, that was Amelia sleeping right through it! She says, "Hey, quiet down guys, I'm sleeping. It'll take more than a single in the Big Leagues to impress me, Dada.")

His bunt.
Adam, is that mud you're running in? ;)

His line wasn't as clean as we like it to be, but I'm still so proud of the accomplishments he's achieved so far! He's working his tail off and fighting hard for his spot on this team. One bad pitch (and a stinkin walk) is all it takes sometimes to turn your line uglier than it should be. But everyone has to give up a homer at some point, so we might as well get it over with now!

3IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 1K, 1HR, a single, a sac bunt, and a 4.05 ERA.
