Day 2,293

The Very Merry Eve

We woke up the three of us together and screamed “Merry Christmas Eve!” Well, I did at least. Ella Mae can’t talk and Amelia doesn’t understand the “merry” part. She says - every single time in exclamation - “VERY Christmas!!” So, a Very Christmas Eve morning it was yesterday, indeed.

Christmas Eve with our church family was an incredible and sweet time of remembering the coming of our Savior, as we dwell on his incomprehensible grace and mercy to redeem us. Hearing our kiddies talk about the birth of Christ and why He had to come as a babe is one of the greatest joys of my life.

This - on a much less grand scale - also brings us joy! We’re spending Christmas as a family of five and looking forward to the traditions we’ll celebrate alongside our children for years to come. This has got to be one of them.

Slippers and Christmas lights with the windows rolled down, arms draped over each other. You’re kidding me. What a precious pair they are!

The kids saw a half hour’s worth of Christmas lights before we started our bedtime routine. Lucky ducks didn’t hit the pillow until 9 and then fought their fatigue for another hour. Because of it, Mama and Dada were up until midnight putting all the fun together.

But it was worth it.

Merry Christmas Eve.

“In Him was Life and the life was the light of men.” -John 1:4
