Day Five Hundred and Ninety-Eight

The Birthday Girl
&
 The Minor League Apartment

.MAY FIRST 2013.
And that means...it's Ellie's 23rd birthday!!
Happy birthday Sissy!!
I spent a good portion of yesterday Skyping with a couple of my most favorite people. Hunter had Mommy's day all planned out: first, the park. Second, the cupcake shop! And finally, the sweetest 2-year-old Happy Birthday Song ever sung. They're the cutest couple, and my life is so much richer because they're in it. I love you Ellie. Your friendship is a treasure and I feel so blessed to call you Best Friend.

Ok...meanwhile, back in Jacksonville...

Lee Ann and I spent last night like any other typical pair of baseball wifeys...in front of the computer. Stressed and disliking the distance more than ever. Mike (her fiance) took the mound in the 6th and suffered a similar fate that Adam experienced last outing. Not good. Not good at all. We stared at the computer in disbelief, not able to do a darn thing about well, anything. It's a terrible feeling. And wanting to punch a computer screen should never seem like an appropriate option. Ha ;) I will say, however, that Lee Ann handles herself much better than I do. So although Mike didn't have his best night, I at least got to learn a thing or two about how to better handle myself during baseball adversity. Whether or not I'll use what I learned is the true test.

Soooo...
Lee Ann and Mike live with two other teammates. The four of them share a two-bedroom...and that means? One of them got booted to the living room. This, my friends, is maybe a better picture of what minor league living actually looks like. Most guys don't rent furnished - these guys didn't. Because they're never home. So when Lee Ann arrived just last week, she walked into something even more bare and "minor league" than this. No couch, no TV trays, no pots, pans, coffee pot, no dishes, TV, or toilet paper! Nothing! Just a couple of blow up mattresses. Well, unlike the boys, she does spend a lot of time at "home," and definitely needed to change a few things. The 4 of them now have all the above essentials (thank goodness)! It's simple living, but it's comfortable. And I love hanging out with her at her sweet and real cozy home.
