Day Four Hundred and Thirty-Three

The Papeete Flight

We left Jupiter at 1:45 to catch our 6:00 PM flight out of Miami. Figuring that would leave us plenty of time, we were unpleasantly surprised when we ran into a ridiculous amount of traffic during both our ride to the airport and in the airport. It took us 45 minutes just to check in and another 45 just to make it through security. I’ve never seen more people at an airport in my life! I swear, Adam and I are cursed when it comes to travelling.

We made our plane with about 10 minutes to spare before boarding. Thankfully, a stewardess was late, which pushed back our departure slightly. Once on the plane, Adam and I cuddled up to the second Harry Potter and then he retired to his Jack and Cokes paired with a game of Risk. The 6-hour flight was long, but it would have been a whole lot longer without these necessities.

After arriving in LAX, we found ourselves a currency exchange booth and traded some American moneys for some Polynesian ones. They’re called “Francs.” And they’re really big. 1000 Francs = about 10 USD + 10%.

From LAX, we boarded flight TN101 on Air Tahiti Nui for Papeete, Tahiti…an 8-hour flight from 11:30 PM until 6:00 AM with a two-hour time difference.

The aircraft was beautiful and just the right mixture of colors (wedding colors baby!)! But even though it was nice on the eyes, it wasn’t nice on the body or brain. Sleeping was near impossible, especially for Adam. He’s just too big to be riding in Economy Class. I told him he’d have to make more money if he wants to ride comfortably in First Class. Haha. Good incentive I guess!  We flew through the night and when we finally touched down in Tahiti, it was 6 AM their time…and we were dead tired.
