The Doctors and The Packers
Dad met with his phlebotomy (what a weird word) nurse for the last time today before the big move to Spokane. He gave blood and it only took two minutes. Last time I attempted to give blood, it took a half hour of them trying to coax me into relaxing. Well, that didn't work. I went home with a perfectly unharmed arm and no blood in the tubes. Needles aren't my thing. And you can bet every last penny that I did not watch while she stabbed him with that sharp object. No thank you.
He then met with his oncologist, Dr. Lonergan, who shook his hand, inquired about his progress, gave him a hug, and sent Dad on his way. No new news. Just a check up and a sweet goodbye. Thanks for taking care of my dad, Doc! Oh, and yes, Johnie thinks it's cool to rock his sunglasses indoors...NOT. He forgot to change into his normal glasses when we got out of the car...and because these ones are prescription, he had to wear them inside! Haha. Better than nothing, I guess!
So, today, we got some packing done! Grandma has a lot of fragile items in her home, and one special collection that I've always been quite fond of is her array of Precious Moments. I mean just look at this little thing! She really is Precious. I took one look at her and said, "Hey, that's meeee!" I love, love being married. And I miss my Adam more than ever.
I'm weird, I know. But I LOVE this one. Haha. The look on her face is priceless and EXACTLY what I'd look like if I accidentally hammered Adam's thumb while trying to be handy. Crying, upset, and completely guilty. So Precious. My grandma's collection is just too sweet, and it's making me want to start my own....Honey?!
After carefully wrapping every last piece of glass, porcelain, and fine china, this is what our hands turned into. That's what we call work in this house!
And so is this! So much work! My brother packed the majority of this before Ellie and I got here, and since, we've just added to it. My dad, grandma, and brother have A LOT of stuff...and I'm just hoping that it all fits into the one UHAUL we're renting on Thursday. Fingers crossed!
