The Greensboro Visitors
YEEEESSSSS! (When you read that "yes," it's meant only to sound like Bob's rendition of it. So, start off with your normal Y sound and then when you get to the E, deepen your voice and hold it for 2 seconds. Then proceed to the S. Then, clap your hands quickly at the end. Now, that's a Bob YES!) And whenever I hear that sound, I know my friend is near...and that we're going to have a really, really good conversation with innumerable laughs, a few "you've got to be kidding me's," and most of the time, a life lesson learned. Our friend drove down with Ed (famous, or infamous, for his fire-starting capabilities...refer to day 249...picture 11...haha, we like Ed!) from sweet Greensboro, North Carolina for a two day stint in the best town on the East Coast: Jupiter! He's dating the beautiful and precious lady in stripes and visits every so often. When he does, we get to see him! And I'm really liking this set up! He and Ed head back tomorrow, but it'll only be a week until we get to hang out again! Wahoo! The Conleys love Bob!
So, Adam walked into the house carrying this stack of mail following tonight's game. I thought for a second, "Wait, did you just go to the mailbox at 11 o'clock at night?" Then it occurred to me...fan mail? For real? Well, there's no way he went to our mailbox...it's a block away and you need a key to get into it. I have that key. And he doesn't. So, as it turns out, all the mail is, in fact, from Adam's own fans! To me, this is when surreal sunk in. I never considered to add this fact into the mix of professional baseball: people, all sorts of people...interested in my husband. That's so weird. But so beautiful. Because in this, I can just see another avenue for Adam's faith to shine through. And for us, that's what this whole baseball life is about: having a platform and using it to bring God's Truth to those who haven't heard it.
The two of us, as of last night, decided to attack the book of Revelations. And we're really, really excited about it! It's been the one book in the New Testament that we've shied away from the most, but finally, we just shook on it and dove right in. We're following a sermon series online by Mark Driscoll from the Seattle-based church called Mars Hill. And actually, Revelations has proven not-so-intimidating after all! Pastor Driscoll is a great teacher and we feel encouraged and excited to learn so much more about the God who loves us, and Who, one day, is coming back for us.
