Day Two Hundred and Eighty-Nine

The Chigitita Chivitas

For Ale, tonight was her last night in the hotel! Without the help of our burly men, we packed the truck and unloaded her life into a nice little Jupiter condo by the beach. This whole pack-and-go lifestyle is becoming a bit more routine, but it's nice to know that at least for a little while, we'll be able to settle down. As for Adam and I, we're still hotel-living. Our lease begins on July 1st, and I cannot wait for Sunday when the two of us can finally enjoy our own apartment again!!

Immediately after unpacking the truck in Jupiter, we, once again, got back to our lives as traveling baseball wives. Our next road trip took us to Tampa, Florida, where new bodies of water have begun to make themselves at home. It's a disaster down here. Talk about muggy...holy smokes.

In all reality, Alejandra and I didn't make the trek across the entire width of Florida this afternoon for a game of baseball. Nope. We knew the game was cancelled far before it even began...too much rain. What we were really after was Mr. Baleato's Uruguayan Chivitas, a native sandwich of Alejandra's country made with filet mignon, ham, mozzarella, and mayo. Oh my goodness. SOOOO GOOD!! I'm in love with Uruguayan food...and was greatly mistaken when I first met Alejandra, assuming that the staples of their diet were similar to that of Mexico. I quickly learned that in Uruguay, meat is their most commonly prepared food, along with fresh salads, and lots, and I mean lots, of Club Soda. Thank you, so much, Fernando, for opening your home to Adam and I!! We absolutely loved our meal and are excited for more Uruguayan comida! :)

And something I've never seen before...Matte! It's a kind of herbal tea-beer-ish type of drink (I think) that Ale's dad always wakes up to in the morning. The yellow bag beyond my shoulder is filled with a flaky herb, which is poured into the matte cup and stirred into hot water. The straw has a filter on the bottom, so when you drink the liquid, the little flakes don't come up with your tea! I've never seen anything like it...and while I sat on their couch, playing with the matte cup and looking through Uruguayan books, I realized just how much I desire to travel the globe. And just how much of this expansive life I'm missing. Someday :)
