The Rude Debby
I knew the day would come when posting a photo to my blog would become almost impossible. Well, currently, that's the situation I'm facing. Without any Internet or a car to drive me to a hotspot, I'm presently sitting in Jose's mom's spare bedroom, as Adam tries desperately to figure out a way to connect me to Wi-Fi in a foreign language. Not to worry, I at least have my phone and might be able to manage a decent visual of the couple photos I took today. The second I get the opportunity to attach the pictures, they'll be up! But for now, please excuse the brevity of this post due to the difficulty involved in typing on my little tiny phone keyboard! Haha. Bless this crazy baseball life!!! Actually, this (lack of) post comes as the perfect addition to a very frustrating day.
You see, Adam was promoted to Jupiter 5 days ago and still hasn't gotten the chance to pitch. Why? Well, the rain of course! Tropical storm Debby is currently on the loose and wreaking havock on the arms and nerves of these Florida baseball players (and their wives). In the past 3 days, every single game has been cancelled, including the game Adam was scheduled to start. Today, the boys were supposed to play a doubleheader and Adam was going to start in the second one. While all the other guys took the early bus to the game, Adam stayed back at the hotel in order to ride the late bus. Well, the late bus never came. At 3, he got the call that both games had been cancelled. That wouldn't have been SUCH a big deal if Adam had gotten the chance to at least play catch and loosen his arm up at the field. And so, on a muddy street, half flooded by a stagnant pool of water on one side, Adam and his catcher tossed the ball for something like 10 minutes. During this short interval of time, maybe 1/4 of it was spent on the side of the road waiting for cars as they drove through the boys' game of catch. If his patience wasn't tested enough, an overthrow by Adam left the ball bouncing down the side street and onto a highway, with cars zipping past at 45 MPH. He was not happy. In fact, he took off his glove, tossed it on the ground, placed one hand on his hip and pulled the other one through his hair. 3 tosses after the ball had been retrieved...? Rain. And rain. And some more rain. And that was the end of his game of catch. I quote, "that was the worst game of catch I've ever played in my life."
Tomorrow, Adam is scheduled to, once again, throw the second game of their doubleheader. I'm doubting that it'll happen though :( Did I mention how excited we are to finally have a place to call home? Yeah, REALLY excited.
(I finally got connection to the internet...an entire day later*)
