Day Two Hundred and Seven

The First Friends

So, let me tell you how the Lord works. The first friend I made in Jupiter is from Greensboro, NC. Tell me that’s not CRAZY!? Since the beginning of our journey in pro ball, Amber has been very special to me. She was married just four months before Adam and I, so she’s currently experiencing some of the same things in marriage that we are.  We’ve grown close very fast – it’s hard not to with someone like her. She’s so intentional about life and relationships. Too many times, I find myself shaking my head in disbelief at her sincerity. She’s always the first to ask about my family, always the first to remember a story, always the first to check up on our prayer requests. I’m blessed to have found a friendship with such a beautiful woman. And when you take all that, mix it up, shake it a bit, and then stir it some more, you get one helpful lady, especially when you’re moving to her hometown. She’s researched almost everything for us, without us having to ask, just because she wants to make this transition as simple and as fluid as possible for Adam and I. Bless her heart! She’s even got her daddy involved! Meet Jim, my first friend in Greensboro! He’s definitely Amber’s dad – they’ve got the exact same heart. Love it!! Today, he took me all over town, on a sort of tour, showing me the different ways to get around. A very appreciated tour, indeed.  We probably spent two hours together, talking, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company as we made our way all over this most adorable city of Greensboro. I’m loving it here already. The people are absolutely wonderful – everyone says hello, everyone says “excuse me,” and everyone smiles. Such a peaceful life they’re living up here. And I really like it. Maybe that’s why I like Amber and her dad so much : )
Thanks for a wonderful day, Jim!

Adam starts tomorrow. Professional debut. Opening night. I’ve had butterflies all day. Here we go Conley fans!

Here’s another article about tomorrow’s opener:

Oh, by the way, even though my husband forgot, I didn't. Last year, on this day, Adam got down on one knee and proposed to me on a rain-soaked highway. We've come so far since then, and it's been an incredible year of life-changing experiences. I'm crazy about Adam and the man he's becoming. And although I had other plans for tonight, Adam watched the Marlin's season opener with Charlie over pizza and chips. Romantic? I'll just take it as a 'work in progress.'
