The Ladies of Cabo Flatts
Ladies Night! It was my first one since moving to Florida, and I am one happy girl! I left Adam home to fend for himself while I met up with the ladies at a local Mexican restaurant for appetizers, drinks, and this surprise dessert. It was refreshing to sit and talk with ladies for a change; I didn't hear a single peep about fastballs or SportsCenter, and I realized tonight just how much I miss the friendship of a woman. It's been a challenge for me to meet girls down here and lately I've felt especially lonely. I miss my friends and family more than ever, and I was beginning to feel hopeless on the front of meeting new girls. After tonight though, my spunk is making a comeback and my hope renewed. I can say confidently that God answered a prayer when he brought these women into my life, and I'm excited to spend more time with them as we grow in our newlywed lives together (they're all newlyweds without kids too!). Channing and Lara are Florida natives, and tonight, they showed Amber and I parts of The Gardens that we hadn't seen before. I'm so thankful for their company and can't wait to see them again. Hopefully this trend of meeting and making friends continues.
Meanwhile, back at the bachelor pad, Adam hosted man night. Nine guys from the team made their way over to our place, ate my crock pot BBQ pulled pork and homemade coleslaw, drank beers, watched ESPN, and listened to country music. No heart-to-hearts, no serious conversations, just a whole lot of small talk. Pretty typical I'd say, but happy he could have some regular time with the boys. However, I was really mad when I came home and saw that the first pie I've ever made was still sitting on the counter untouched! Don't men like treats?! Maybe they just don't like mine?! I swear it wasn't poisoned; Adam finally had a piece and he's not dead. Success! He even told me it was the best apple pie he's ever had (reminds me of a Brad Paisley's lyric:"that's not a lie...that's love").
