Day 3,555

The Ear Piercing Win

An ice cream cone prize carries quite the incentive.

This Little Kate was quite upset when she left the mall with neither ice cream nor pierced ears the other day. And so, the next morning she woke up as determined as ever to achieve both. And with only a bit of coercion once in the seat...

... she got the prizes!!

Pierced ears, ice cream, and a smile. I don’t think there’s anything much cuter than that! Good job Ella Mae! I can imagine how frightened you may have been after watching Amelia get hers done, but you did the perfect job!!

Wanting to make sure EVERYONE noticed her ears, she chose a dress and “Avery Hair” to wear to the baseball game. Then we sang happy birthday to our friend and headed out on another adventure.

We met our new River friends at the game,

fed a pigeon while waiting in line for supper,

and rolled all sorts of ways down the hill with our friend.

It was the best of days.

And to top it off, we even got to watch Daddy pitch all the way from the outfield. He’s having a great season so far and FINALLY has figured out how to throw a slider THAT ACTUALLY GOES TO THE RIGHT! Only took over ten years! He’s learned so much even in only less than a month in the Rays organization—we’re incredibly thankful for how detailed, informed, specific, thorough, encouraging, and helpful they’ve been so far and in nearly every facet of their approach to this profession.

In 9.2 IP this season, he has a 1.86 ERA with 7 Ks, 1 BB, and a 0.72 WHIP. We don’t yet have any sort of idea or timeline of how long we’ll be here, but we trust that whatever the Lord has planned for our months ahead, it’s best for us regardless. We do look forward to hopefully being able to be apart of what the Rays are doing in Tampa—it would be an honor and a true delight.

Until then, we love you, Bulls!

Thank you for everything so far.

And to Mr. Tyler—Daddy’s teammate who’s progressing every day in the hospital—we’re praying for you. And this whole town is behind you!! Keep going, friend. You are an encouragement to us all.
