The Easter Sunday at CBC
Resurrection Sunday.
The day we celebrate as the cornerstone of our faith—the day Christ rose from the grave, conquering death and validating His deity as God in the flesh. The day Christians rejoice in as we look forward to Heaven, having been forgiven our sins through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Who promises that because of His victory over death, eternal life with Him awaits those who trust to the core of who they are in His name for the rescuing of their souls.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,
7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:3, NASB)
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; (1 Corinthians 15:3, NASB)
53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory.
55 O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?"
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;
57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:53, NASB)
Happy Resurrection Day, my friends and family. My greatest hope and prayer is that for those of you who do no have saving faith in Christ, that you would seek out a faithful Christian in your life and begin asking questions as to what and why they believe what they believe. And that as you’re presented the Biblical gospel of Christ, you would repent, turn from your life of sin, and trust in God for the salvation of your soul, which is the only eternal thing you own. If you don’t know any Christians, please know Adam and I are available to you in whatever capacity you need and would love to speak with you.
Happy Easter!
After our attending our first Easter church service in something like 7 years—thanks to baseball season—we took a trip over to “the property,” to help pick up the hundreds of sticks scattered across two acres of land.
They’re sure loving this land life!
Especially when it’s also littered with a bunch of Easter eggs!
Our day was mostly lovely. The part where Bub picked a jalapeño pepper from a garden that wasn't his and then proceeded to both eat it and touch his eyes, well, that wasn’t. He learned quickly that the natural consequences in life are often quite painful and hopefully he’ll be reminded of that next time his seven year old hands so badly desire something that isn’t his.
But like I said, it was mostly a day full of fun and new experiences and were grateful for them.
