Day 3,467

The Miniature Man of the House

Amelia has taught herself how to do a STANDING back tuck (back flip with no hands). A standing. Back tuck. At six. What in the world, lady?! We’re so impressed with all her hard work and she absolutely LOVES it! Way to go Big Sissy!

Speaking of gymnastics, while Daddy was gone picking Amelia up from gymnastics, I rolled my ankle on a toy on the ground and came crashing down to the floor last night. Immediately, Bearett went into Daddy mode and took care of his ailing mother. He ran to get an ice pack, balanced two on my ankle, got a pillow for each foot, fetched a blanket to keep me warm, then put a pillow under my head and kissed me simultaneously. Once I was all situated and my injury icing, he then got ice cream out.

And they all spoon fed me bite after bite.

And then, lotion.

And I ended up with a busted up ankle, a face full of lotion, a gloopy mess about my hands and legs, an aching stomach from endless giggles, and an immeasurable amount of newfound joy at the hearts of my kids—especially my son. I’m so thankful that stupid toy was on the ground and that our night went exactly how I didn’t plan nor prefer.  Plus, my ankle is fine now, so it was totally worth the initial pain.
