The Seventh Year of “I Do”
A man in New York asked us how we have three children - are pregnant - and still manage to like each other. Timely, considering the occasion.
I tell people often, “I still feel like a newlywed” and truly, it’s not an exaggeration. I really do. It’s still exciting and fresh and raw and new. And it’s not because I’m just madly in love with him - which I absolutely am. It’s not just because I got lucky - which most people would say I probably did.
It’s because Adam loves Christ more than he loves me.
And he finds great worth and joy and freedom in loving Christ and serving his wife and family in the manner the Lord has called Believers to. Sacrificially in love. It’s no easy task. And much is required of him. But daily, he’s chosen to love me in obedience to God’s design and by his faithfulness, being married to him is the greatest blessing and joy of my life outside of my own salvation. He continues to lead me to new revelation, new understanding, new love, and new hope. He is loyal, determined, constant. And I’m just so thankful that this is the man I get to live life alongside. The man I get to share my children with. Who teaches them and leads them and disciplines them and loves them.

Seven years ago, I didn’t imagine this.

Because my imagination couldn’t have managed the overwhelmingly beautiful thought of bringing us to where the Lord has.

My life’s treasure on the sweetest of days. What a blessing marriage is. What a delight when it’s experienced how God intended it to be.
And it’s not to say we have everything figured out. We don’t. We certainly have a lot to learn and it’s not always pretty. But our hope is found in Christ and by the grace of God, that’s enough to drive this marriage in a direction that joyfully honors each other as it honors the Lord.

On 9/10/2011, we said “I do.”
On 9/10/2018, we said the same.
And we did so at a Manhattan restaurant down the block from our hotel at a place called...9Ten. Pretty good, guys. Pretty good.

The kids and I celebrated the rest of the afternoon at the top of the sky in a thoroughly chlorinated pool (which turned both girls’ hair green!!!).

And then the shocking news: Adam’s game was postponed due to rain, which meant we ALL got to celebrate together the rest of the night!! An unexpected anniversary treat!

I love you more than you’ll ever know, Adam. It’s my joy and delight to be your wife. Truly. Happy Seven.
