Day 2,242

The Bear’s First Day of Kindergarten!

He woke up from his nap and...school time!
While they slept, Daddy and Mommy used the offday to turn Dad’s study into Mom’s classroom. And Bear was SO surprised!!! A desk, just for him! Even a name tag to say so!

Though it was Bear’s first very special day, we knew we’d be in sure trouble if we left our curious and overachiever of a three-year-old out. So we set her up a desk right next to her best friend. No name tag though. She doesn’t qualify for that rite of passage quite yet.

We dove headfirst into Day One with zero expectations and a whole lot of grace. School only took us a total of maybe 40 minutes - completed throughout the evening from 6:30PM to bedtime around 11. Our desire is to take it slow and fit the schoolwork into our lives, so that learning is happening most of the day, and mostly informally. And Bearett did great!!!

He’s so excited for school and I’m even more excited to be his teacher. I can’t wait to watch him learn and continue realizing his secure place in our family as he learns about the world around him that God so perfectly created.

For this year, we’ve chosen the curriculum called My Father’s World. It was through much research, consideration from wiser homeschooling mamas, and prayer that led us to this curriculum and we’re looking forward with great expectation at what joy this time in learning with our children will bring.

CONGRATULATIONS on your first big day of kindergarten, Bearett John! We are so incredibly proud of you!
