Day 2,121

The Fourth of Firsts

Celebrating our freedom at the hospital! 'Merica.

Amelia was stung by something the day before yesterday and when she woke up yesterday, her ankle was really red and swollen and hot to the touch. I was concerned, so I decided to take her in to get it looked at. The only place open was the hospital. Naturally. So, that's where we went! First time for everything!

I monitored it incessantly. Every hour. All through the night. They gave me their "best guess" that it was possibly MRSA, but didn't even suggest culturing it before I asked them to. We won't know what it is - if anything at all - until Thursday. But my mommy gut said they were way off. And by the looks of her ankle this morning, I'm almost positive she was only swelling because of the placement of the bite and maybe because she's allergic to the bug. But no fever, no pus, no lines, no nothing. Except what you can see on the photo. So we just iced, used tea tree oil, covered it, used a cream, an rested. (Just for peace of mind, she's totally been fine today).

Lots of rest.

We stayed in and celebrated, just the three of us and it was so sweet. I love being home. I love being here for them. I love being their mommy. What a treasure. This is right where I belong.
