The Mid-Season Rest
I didn't need to officially workout yesterday. Instead, it came in the form of packing and unpacking the suburban in the afternoon heat of the south Florida sun. Suffice to say, I was just as sweaty when all was said and done than when I complete a HIIT workout from the floor of my hotel room. It was hard leaving Miami with our car packed full, but for now, it's the right decision and something we both agreed needed to happen.
We managed to be in our home no more than 30 minutes, when Amelia complained, "Mom, something's on my leg!!" In no time at all, these suckers showed up red and hot and made Mama nervous. It was a rude welcome home, but she seems to be fine. I guess that's just what happens when you're gone for three months and spiders overtake your garage.
We unpacked the suburban and soon after, got into bed. Ella Mae napped from 5-9, Amelia from 6-9, Mama from 7-8. Apparently we were all running on fumes and we're more than happy to be home.
We woke up to some yummy supper from Brandi and Trent and then spent the rest of the evening putting together our new stroller...
...and relaxing in our home. Amelia is in her element and it makes me smile with a sigh of relief.
We're tired. The girls are tired. And the Mama is really tired. Exhausted, I'd say even. It's been a hard season on us so far. We've been all over the map with a new baby and for the last six weeks, have lived in a one bedroom hotel room. It's challenged us in so many ways and by the last day in NOLA, Adam knew we needed rest at home. So though we're here without our Dada and missing him like ever, we needed the rest. I needed the rest. And that's hard for me to admit to because I have the mindset that I can pretty much conquer anything. But spiritually, I'm running thin and being home will allow me to reset and refocus on what I know truly matters in this life. My God, my salvation, my witness, and my obedience to his calling.
