The 1st Babycake Starr
...and still, SO much to smile about.
Finding perspective through this trial has been hard for me. But then I look back at photos like this and feel foolish for questioning God's will in this. Regardless if I know what He has for us here, we have each other. And that's something we haven't had a lot of ever since Ella Mae's birth. So I sit here - thankful for the extra moments we have here in our extended stay because minor league baseball offers us at least that. More time with Daddy.
And more time with Daddy also means more help for Mommy.
Yesterday, I clearly needed it.
Ella Mae hadn't pooped in four or five days. I was concerned until I learned it's totally normal for exclusively breastfed babies to go up to two weeks without pooping because their bodies are so efficient with the milk. However, I learned also that when they finally do poop, to expect an explosion. They weren't kidding. Good morning and welcome to NOLA Mom and Dad!
And welcome back to the "Shrine on Airline." The last time Amelia was here, she was Ella Mae's age. Crazy.
If there's anything I missed about minor league baseball, it's the close proximity we get to watch Daddy from. Here, we can sit as close as we want and it neither costs extra nor is it awkward to do so. This time, Millie could actually SEE her Dada on the field instead of just taking my word that the tiny speck of a human out there is actually her 6'3" father.
I'm really trying hard to find perspective and purpose here...with a good attitude. It's hard when flying termites are crawling all over you and your baby, but...I'm trying.
And her sweet face does make it a bit easier. But mostly, what's really getting me through this trial right now is my time in the Word - I've been reading and studying Jonah and it's gripping my heart and convicting me in ways I never considered before. (If anyone reading this has the app called Blue Letter Bible, read Jonah in its entirety and then look up David Guzik's commentary on it.)
Not weird that while Dad pitched, Amelia made more friends. She's so friendly! "Whas YOUR name," she always asks!
____________
Adam was on a pitch count of 80 last night and got into the fifth before he was replaced. He made some good progress and is confident that it'll continue. He was focused - among other things - on throwing the ball hard. And he did throw consistently harder. So...yeah. That's about it for yesterday. Even though there's tons more to say. I just am too tired to even try to explain everything that's been and is going on.
