Let's try this again, shall we? Extended stay #2, here we go. At $40/night and brand new in December, I'd say we're off to a good start. The other one was $91/night and smelled permanently of stale bacon and old diaper. Plus, we've now got an actual bed for Millie instead of a pull out couch...and no carpet. Hallelujah. Downsides? No couch, no oven, no kitchenware, no curtains (blinds only), it's noisier, and there's a parking spot right outside our window. But the dishes were cheap, the table is a place to sit, a blanket covers the window, the noise machine drowns out most of the elephant stampede above, and I parked in the spot outside our room. Can't do much about the no oven situation besides making meals that don't need it, but that's not hard. Oh, and there's no pool and instead of being only 5 minutes from the field, we're 12. Definitely some give and take, but I feel like we're getting the better end of the deal at this point...
...and that's reason to smile. Man, I look tired. Yesterday wore me out. Apparently it did the girls too. Amelia slept for three hours and Ella Mae...well she just slept like normal. Moving out of one hotel room and into another - and all the logistics involved in said move - in the sticky Louisiana sun was not my favorite, but I did it and I'm thankful the Lord equipped me with the ability to tackle these sorts of circumstances head on, even by myself. I'm learning to become more aware of his mercies and grace each day and finding reason to be thankful for where he has me each moment. Moments especially like these.
After such a big nap, we needed to get out. We're happy about our new room, but the feeling of being cooped up comes quickly for us in hotels. So we found a park.
Clearly, a really fun park!
And a beautiful one too. Complete with a lake, an ice cream stand, a sunset, chickens, and otters.
Thank you Jesus for such wonderful views as these.
