The Sickness
It's official. After 21 months of life, Amelia was sick for the first time ever. She woke up at midnight with a fever and throughout all of yesterday, she ran a temperature between 100 and 103. Completely out of the blue. We were shocked and quite bummed by the timing of it all, but her health has been such a point of praise in her little life that though we were upset I wasn't able to attend the entire second day of the conference, we absolutely had no room for complaint.
Seeing her tired baby eyes and knowing the look of discomfort she was facing broke my heart. But thankfully, this was the highest it got.
I let the fever run its course, as it wasn't high enough to garner much of any concern, but instead let her body fight off whatever had invaded it.
We took advantage of an entire day of cuddling, only leaving the room once for some fresh Florida air once it had cooled off. Other than her desire to sleep more than normal, her only other symptoms were a clear runny nose and a disinterest in eating.
It seemed very similar to the symptoms she'd experience while cutting teeth from months before, but I checked for her two year old molars and couldn't feel anything. So I'm not sure what happened to her yesterday. BUT, I'm happy to report that this morning, she woke up COMPLETELY normal with a 98.6 degree temperature and a wet diaper. Say what?! I don't understand what on earth she was experiencing yesterday, but I'm SO thankful her little body was so well prepared to fight off the attack. Praise God.
