Day Sixteen Hundred and Eighty-One

The Third 2016 Start

"Cuz I'm all about THAT face!"
Mimi was loving everything Dada yesterday and having the best time cheering him on. Right up until the seventh inning, that is.

Joe too.

Adam was cruising against the Nationals in his first start at home of 2016, matching zeros against Strasburg. Through five, he had eight strikeouts and only four hits by the time the Seventh rolled around. His pitch count was low and we were excited about the possibility of another scoreless inning. But then, with two outs, everything changed. Dad had Werth 3-2 and Amelia and I were making the strikeout call from 30 rows away. We were waiting for it, but instead, Adam gave up a home run. And then, another one. And then two more hits before leaving the field with two outs and runners on second and third, both who ended up scoring and therefore counting against Adam's ERA.

His incredible night ended on a bit of a sour note, but he learned a lot and pitched much better than his line shows. It's fast paced up here and games can literally change in the blink of a pitch.

For his effort, he received much acknowledgement and encouragement and we're all excited about the potential he's showing. So even though he got the loss, not all was lost. See, Amelia is proof!

His line:
6.2IP, 8H, 4ER, 8K, and the Loss.
He's now 0-1 with a 4.61 ERA.

Adam pitches Sunday's game against the Giants in San Francisco.
