Day One Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty-Seven

The Changes

Adam's third day of Ayudan Week had him at Marlins Park, surrounded by a bunch of students, seated in front of the big screen. In honor of our troops and those who serve, the students, staff, and players all had the opportunity of enjoying a private showing of the documentary Travis The Movie - a story about a soldier that lost all four limbs in the war in Afghanistan and his inspirational, courageous, hard-fought road to recovery. It was a special day that Adam won't soon forget.

After his event, we rushed - if you can even use the word rushed when referring to Miami traffic - out of Miami and made our way North to the birthing center for our 39 week appointment. But about halfway there, we got a call from our receptionist...two ladies went into labor yesterday! And since our birth house has only two midwives, they rescheduled my appointment for Tuesday - the day after my due date! Ha! So, we drove home, made lunch, went to the gym, saw the chiropractor, and Adam finally got his throwing in as the sun set behind him (if we'd have gone to our appt, he wouldn't have thrown in two days - not good!). I'm normally against the dreaded selfie, but this one was an exception - it's the last baseball picture I'll probably ever have of us before it's not just the two of us anymore. It made me emotional as I thought about how much this year is going to change the rest our lives together. I'm so excited to begin our new journey as a family of three, but I've really enjoyed the last 3 1/2 years with just my Adam. He's so incredibly special to me and my biggest fear is that I'll somehow miss him once everything changes. I've been told that bringing a life into the world grows couples even closer, but since I haven't experienced that yet, I'll be honest - I'm a little nervous of what's to come.

I love you so much Adam.
And I'm more proud of you than I could ever express.
You're the kind of man I pray my daughter marries one day and I am so grateful I can say that without hesitation. You're my best, Adam.
Here's to you and a whole bunch of beautiful change coming in 2015!
