The Drive Was Worth the Surprise
I drove through three states before this one decided to join the party yesterday.
Normally, I don't do mornings, but after 4 straight 5AM wake-up calls this week, he had more of a reason to sleep than I did. So I turned the music down real low, clicked on his butt seat warmer, and stole several glances of my twitching, snorting, cutest husband while navigating windy roads and insane truck drivers.
When Adam finally came to - a little after 9AM - we got to stop for breakfast...my most favorite meal of the day. And sure enough, McDonalds was our only option. Knowing this atrocity would likely happen to me, I planned ahead and packed the cooler with my organic milk and bran flakes. I didn't think to pack a bowl though. Doh! Not to worry...McDonald's to the (sort of) rescue with the smallest bowl ever! Breakfast is served!! And breakfast was eaten without a single spill...while driving...with the help of one very concerned copilot. Multitasking at its finest, baby!
We left Paintsville, KY at 6 AM and managed to walk through our front door at 10:15 PM. A 14 hour drive...and an added 2 hours worth of food stops, potty stops, and one Bass Pro Shop stop. We ended up driving through 7 states (KY, TN, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL), witnessing our first snowfall, and getting gas at a record $2.54. Under $100 to fill up the truck! How's that for a road trip!?
But easily the highlight of our long return home was stepping into the condo and seeing this.
"Scott left us something big, Honey."
Uhm, YEAH HE DID, Adam. THAT'S OUR STROLLER!
"Wait, that's a stroller? Are you sure? NO WAY he bought us our stroller."
Baby Jogger's City Elite...oh yeah baby, that's our stroller. I'm sure!!!
SCOTT MCGOUGH.
Unreal out of you, roommie!
We are so grateful for this incredible gesture and can't thank you enough for such a special surprise. Baby Conley is kicking with excitement, although punching with sadness that you won't be back until January. We had a wonderful time sharing our lives and home with you for the last 6 weeks and want you to know that you're always always welcome here anytime. Love you, friend!
