The Fort Lauderdale Airport Hates Me
Last time I was here, I thought I was getting arrested.
100 rounds of ammo in your carry-on will do that to a person.
I expected the worst then, but the good guy (me) prevailed, and I caught my flight to Spokane at the very last second.
This time, since I didn't do anything even remotely illegal (crying doesn't count), I naturally expected the best. Turns out, the bad guy (not me) prevailed, and Adam and I were involuntary kicked off our plane at the very last second. Yeah. For real.
Why?
Because they overbooked the flight by 20 people…and since we were toward the end of the line, it was too bad for you guys, you're not getting on this plane.
Shut. The. Front. Door.
Can they even do that? Uh, yeah.
Wanna see something pathetic? Tell a tired, hungry, anxious, pregnant girl that she won't make it to Spokane for another day and that she'd have to miss a good friend's wedding. Safe to say: I'm thankful my husband still loves me. He's a champ. We were rerouted to Houston, then to Oakland, where we would spend the night and fly out to Spokane the following day (today). By this point, we'd already spoken to a Southwest representative for two straight hours, searching for ways to make Spokane on time. Oakland for the night was the best we could come up with. But of course, as it would happen, that plane (from Fort Lauderdale to Houston) had mechanical issues...arriving three hours late. Which only meant one thing: a missed connection to Oakland. Just stop. Uhhhhh. Get back up. Talk to the agent for another hour. Finally board the aircraft, pray it doesn't blow up, and find a pillow at the Double Tree Houston by midnight. No connection to Oakland. Instead, they issued us another flight path leaving the following day (today) from Houston to Denver to Spokane. Ok, whatever. Just get me there before 3. We have a wedding to attend!
All that to say, we left Fort Lauderdale Airport yesterday with a mixture of fifteen printouts of boarding tickets, refunds, and hotel comps. How was your day?
