Day One Thousand and Twenty-One

The Eighth Zephyr Start

I told Adam last night that I think the Marlins need to start paying me.
It was a silly joke. But, hey, it might hold a small ounce of validity.

Turns out, Adam's ERA on the road is sorta, well, not amazing.
But at home? A whole lot better.
I'm convinced he must need me to pitch well.
Ah shucks. How romantic, Adam.
That, at least, sounds better than thinking road games are just a mixture of bad pitching and worse luck.

He pitched fine last night. Threw 61 of 91 strikes. But his notorious one-inning freak session made it's unappreciated ugly appearance. Gah! I hate those innings! It was in the fifth when everything went berserk. Some bad pitches. Two walks. And a little more bad luck. Next thing I know, he's exiting the inning after allowing five runs on two outs. Blah. But he kept his composure and held his head up, commenting that he's gaining more and more confidence in his slider. Music to my ears after watching that inning. He's making progress still. Just gotta keep those one-inning blunders outta sight!

His line:
4.2IP, 9H, 7R, 7ER, 3BB, 3K
5 runs, 6 hits, and 2 walks came out of the fifth.
Whoops.

At least there's a next time!
Should be Thursday night at HOME!!
