The Sixteenth Soggy Start
Hey sexy guy with the sexy leg lift. Can I have your number?! :D
Adam pitched in his sixteenth start yesterday (I can't believe how fast this season has gone)! We faced another National League team, so once again, he got his chance to hit. He made contact in both his ABs...but one was a flyout and the other a groundout. We're still waiting for his first-ever professional hit. And if you ever think of it...we could use your prayers. Hahahaha ;) Kidding!
I couldn't have captured a more sincere form of a devastated Adam. I can only imagine his thoughts, "C'mon guys, it's only a little rain. Just some lightning. Let's keep playing...Please?" By this time, Adam had pitched through 5 1/3 innings when the game was called due to weather, mid-at-bat, to a guy with one ball and two strikes. Uhhhh. At least let him finish off the hitter?! But instead, everyone sprinted from the field, seeking shelter and dry ground. Well, everyone except Adam. He was the last one to find his way back to the dugout...upset and frustrated and angry over the outcome of the game. He got the loss - only his third of the season. And the Suns didn't even have the opportunity that every home team gets - the bottom of the inning...the last opportunity to score.
It's a rule in baseball: For a winner to be determined in any game, the teams must complete at least five innings. After five, the game can be called - at any time - and the team with the most runs (regardless if the home team gets their bottom of the inning) wins. Well, we were losing 3-4 when the game was called yesterday, and therefore, Adam was given the loss. Poop.
The grounds crew came a-runnin' with that gigantic tarp. No more baseball for you!
But Adam waited. And waited. And waited. And he didn't go back into the locker room until the game was officially cancelled. All he wanted to do was play. And since he only gets to play once every five days, I don't blame him. Ah Honey. Baseball broke my heart for you yesterday. Sad wife.
Oh yeah, and his line...that you don't have to read :(
5 1/3 IP, 3H, 4R, 3ER, 3BB, 4K and the dumb L.
He's now 7-3 on the season.
