Day Six Hundred and Twenty-Two

The Auctioned Navy Jerseys

It was "Digital Blue Camo Jersey Auction to Salute the Navy" night (<--- they should consider a shorter promotional name...I think) at Bragan field yesterday. And our bullpen had everything to smile about (except that we lost the game). In one hour from this photo being taken, every single one of their jerseys would be auctioned off and taken from their backs...with all the proceeds given to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

In the third inning, I bid on Adam's jersey (duh). I wrote my name as big as the space provided (no, I didn't draw the heart) and assumed it to be a done deal. Surely they'd understand him to be my husband, right? But when I came back in the seventh, it was clear to me that understood or not, I wasn't winning! I wrote my name down once again and stood protectively in front of the sheet until the auction ended. I wanted that sweaty #4 jersey!

It got a little heated...and I saw a lot of bidding wars...but in the end...I got my jersey and the Wounded Warrior Foundation got a lot of donations.

A win-win for me (even though we lost).
Thank you, Papa, for all your years of service in the Navy. You were on my mind all night. I love you!
