Day Four Hundred and Eighty-Three

The ColorVibe 5K

A white canvas is best to paint on. And we did a lot of painting yesterday. So, a squeaky clean, fresh, and white outfit was necessary - because it was our canvas.

Colored cornstarch serviced as our paint. Green, blue, pink, purple, and yellow made up our pallet. And thousands of runners became abstract artists.

(Contained in plastic bags, colored cornstarch was given to each runner before the run. Most people got one packet. I ended up with 6...suckas!)

In Ft. Lauderdale - about an hour south of Jupiter - a colorful crowd of anxious and excited runners gathered to participate in The ColorVibe 5K Race for charity. I'm not sure how many people registered, but it was a lot. And for this kind of event: the more, the merrier. Armed only with a free pair of sunglasses - which I wore immediately - the colors began flying long before the gun ever went off.

The misery of the 5K was broken up by multiple color stations, all of which I walked very slowly through. One: I needed the break. Two: I hate running. Three: I needed the most color! In the PINK station, my sunglasses served their purpose of protecting my eyes, but my wide open smile made my mouth the most vulnerable. I didn't know what an entire mouthful of cornstarch tasted like before then.

Post race: loving the color, loving the company, and certainly loving the fact that the running portion of the event was over! Or maybe that was just me?

This messy group of girls was a joy to spend the morning with. But more than that, an answered prayer. The Lord has been faithful in bringing into my life young Christian women who I can grow alongside and find friendship with. I love these ladies and look forward to every chance I get to see them. Even if it is on a 5K race track.

Channing, Erika, and I: triplets! And dirty ones too. Only I got way more sweaty than them...hence the darker neck-area color. Sick.

It ended up raining at the very end of the race. And wet cornstarch hardens when it dries. I had crust falling from every colored inch of my body. SO GROSS!

With 6 packets somehow in my possession before the race, I decided to save one. I lied to my husband - upon arriving home - that I desperately needed help cleaning color from his truck. He came to help. And that's when I ambushed him with green.

And he wasn't even mad - even gave me a hug and kiss! But I am aware that retaliation exists and that I'll probably be subject to it sometime soon.

I love a good sport. Especially this one. Covered in green. Looking Shrek-ish. And more handsomer than handsome. SUCH a fun day!

If a color run ever comes to your area, run it! Or jog it. Or do what I did and complain enough until the group just walks with you! Ha! (Adam says I need to change my mindset on my disproval with running. It hasn't happened yet, and I'm not sure it ever will. I'll Crossfit any day. But please don't make me run!)
