Day Four Hundred and Fifty-Four

The Anniversary Photo Shoot on Sandy Sand

This isn't what it looks like. The entire right side of the beach is a 20-foot drop from where this photo was taken. Tropical Storm Sandy eroded this entire stretch of Juno beach completely...to the point where there's actually no beach anymore - they're instead creating a man-made one. When we visited this site yesterday, there were 2 bulldozers packing sand into the area where dogs and sunbathers once went to enjoy the sunshine. All of the bridges that connect the road to the sand are brand new...the old ones, washed away. It was an incredible sight. Neither of us realized the damage Sandy caused until yesterday (since we've been gone for the past month) and were stunned. The storm barely hit us. I can't imagine what NJ and NY are going through right now.

We did, however, manage to find an actual stretch of beach that was still in tact. There, we FINALLY TOOK OUR ANNIVERSARY PHOTOS! Wahoo! We had a blast and get to see our pictures on Tuesday! Hooray! (We purchased this photo session in AUGUST) Haha...such is Conley life!
