Day Four Hundred and Thirty-One

The Homecoming Surprise

We returned home on Wednesday morning at 2:00 AM feeling beat down, worn out, and completely exhausted. The $200 airport parking fee we racked up set me over the edge, and I spent the entire ride home from Fort Lauderdale in tears and snot. Finally, when we stepped into our home, this note was waiting for us.

These flowers and cards too. My tears turned into a sobbing bawl, as every sort of mixed emotion I could fathom took over. I didn't stop crying until I fell asleep at 4 AM.

This first year and two months of marriage have shown us the most extreme highs and the lowest of lows. This was one of those highs. After one of the worst weeks of my life, and before we got back home, my precious girl friends cleaned our entire apartment, cooked us a meatloaf meal, brought us flowers, and signed us a sweet, sweet card. We walked in totally and completely surprised, feeling overwhelmed, and so very loved. I'll remember to give Amber, Channing, and Lara my keys every time we leave on a trip! ;) Thank you girls. You have no idea how sweet of a gesture this was. I love you all and appreciate your kindness greatly.

When we climbed out of bed at 1:00 Wednesday afternoon, feeling slightly rested and a bit better than the horrid night before, we did absolutely nothing. And that's exactly what we needed. Well actually, I spent much of the afternoon, sitting on my bum, watching Fox News, and researching on Google what to bring to Moorea (an island right next to Tahiti)!!! We leave at 5 PM on Friday! We're beyond excited and ready to relax...maybe sip a few of those island drinks too! Our Honeymoon might be 14 months overdue, but it couldn't come at a better time. Above is the top half of our list...and the rest goes a little something like this: snacks, snorkel, aquasox, plastic silverware, bag for market, hats, flex cooler, memory card, aloe vera, band aids, mini speakers, paper plates, towels, Jolly Ranchers, CD sleeves, and notify Chase. I think we just about have everything covered. I researched and researched, and these items are what the experts say to bring...hopefully they don't let us down! And no, I won't forget our bathing suits either ;) Seriously cannot wait for Moorea and our over-the-water-bungalow!
