Day Three Hundred and Twenty-Eight

The Stormy Pinterest Party

Our afternoon looked exactly like this. And it was the most rain I've ever seen in my entire life. Craziest thing: it all happened in under 2 hours. I was making Adam lunch sometime around 1:00 and I heard a loud bang. It was a curious sound and I asked Adam if it was the garbage truck. Definitely not. Instead, thunder. Lightning. Right over our apartment complex. I can't believe how loud it was! And with all Florida lightning storms comes rain. Lots and lots of rain. I just never realized that a storm could flood the streets so quickly. It's not like that in Washington! One second it's perfectly dry here, and the next, you've got a foot of water sitting outside your patio door. Unreal.

Town Center Drive - the street Adam and I live on - looked a little more like a swimming pool than anything else!

One minute in the rain here, and you might as well have been in the shower. I was completely soaked from head to toe. In fact, I ran back inside to grab a towel and umbrella for the two of us to try and share. But umbrellas are almost a joke in South Florida. The rain doesn't just come straight down, you see. It comes from the side, from the other side, from behind, from the front, heck, even from the ground. I don't even know why I bother with my hair sometimes...but that's another story.

I was almost 100% positive that Adam's game would be cancelled today, but he insisted to brave the storm and go to work. I reluctantly took him while lightning struck the ground around our complex, but actually, they did end up playing a game. And so while he was away at baseball, I kept myself busy at home with a little project of my own. Tonight, a sweet girl from church hosted a "Pinterest Party," and you bet I was going! Good women and good food? Count me in! I scoured the website for all sorts of fun ideas and landed this one...I had no idea how much I'd love them in the end...
This is how my cupcake hamburgers started...

All our Pinterest creations! Ah! The food was amazing and the ideas...so neat!

I was a bit nervous before showing up to the party. I knew only two girls who'd be there, but by the end of the night, I had met so many wonderful ladies and enjoyed a great time. This group was the perfect mix of personalities and I'm looking forward  to getting to know a few of them better. Hooray for more Floridian friends!! Oh, and I might take a little time to brag: my hamburger cupcakes were a total hit!

Even Adam liked them!!

The most perfect HAPPY meal!!! My hamburger sliders were made of cake, brownie, coconut, and frosting! Oh, and we mustn't forget the sugar cookie french fries, complete with sugar salt! I can't get over how cute it all turned out! But Adam apparently thinks that I need a milkshake to complete the meal. Whatever!

I LOVE PINTEREST!

Oh, Adam pitches tomorrow at 6:35! Wahoo!
