Day Three Hundred and Thirty-Seven

The Frustrated, But Actually Happy, Clearwater Visitor

My photos are refusing to upload from our hotel room internet here in Clearwater, Florida. Adam says that this might be a good lesson for me to learn, but I'm still upset. He told me to make light of the situation and that things aren't always going to be perfect...and that that's ok. "Life doesn't always have to work out perfectly to be great." I wish and pray often that I would have his reaction to difficult situations...because, that wasn't exactly my train of thought. It more resembled the natural thoughts of an angry caveman. Kendall mad. Kendall yell. Kendall punch dumb computer screen. Kendall cry.

So now, I have this blog to write but no pictures to accompany my words. This has only happened once before...the night we returned from Charleston, SC and Jose popped his truck tire at 4 AM. At least that was funny! This is just flat-out annoying! But, for my husband's sake and for my own growth, I'll pretend like I'm not going to lose it and completely freak out. Because that's what I really want to do.

As you can see (or imagine), Florida comes fully equipped with 12-foot, man-eating alligators. Don't believe me? Well, the sign that sits right outside the Tampa Bay Rays' Spring Training facility is proof enough. It reads, "CAUTION, DO NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS." And next to the words, a giant alligator is depicted. Cool. Go to a baseball game...Get eaten by an ancient reptile. Not my idea of fun. Or safe. Geeze, Port Charlotte, get it under control!

Imagine this: Adam actually decided to forgo the team bus and rode with me instead! This doesn't happen often, so I took a picture of him singing in the driver's seat. I love it, so much more, when he sits there and I can stare at him as long as I'd like to. Because riding alone just isn't as fun...and it's much less scenic too!

Have you ever seen a hotel room without any carpet? Like, no carpet at all?! None?! Well, I hadn't before tonight, so I got really excited! Haha. Crazy Kendall. And so, I took a photo of our new hotel room. Adam has another day off tomorrow (I know...two Mondays in a row!!), so we decided to drive an hour and a half North to Clearwater, Florida. Only about 10 minutes from us, our dear friend Cody Bartlett is sleeping, resting up for his bright 7 AM baseball practice in the morning. He plays for an affiliate of the Blue Jays and with only a few hours separating the three of us, we decided that we had to see each other before he left back to Washington at the end of the month.

Because we've stayed in so many hotels, Adam has found new ways of making himself feel at home. When we wind up in a room without a refrigerator, he momentarily sulks. Nobody likes lukewarm beer. Especially Adam. But now, he has his own way of chilling off his nightly suds...he grabs the ice bucket, fills it with ice, places the entire thing under the sink faucet, fills it up with water, places the beer in, and waits 8 minutes. 8 minutes. Not 7. And ta-da! Cold beer!

(When we get back home to Jupiter tomorrow night, I'll upload all the photos from today...they'll be located right under these words...just so I can laugh at myself later on in life at what I just wrote above.)
