The Learning Curve
Hey everyone, it's Adam. If you looked up my stat line tonight you would be, for lack of a better term, "surprised." Kendall didn't get a picture of my throwing tonight, more than likely because my outing didn't last too long. I even jokingly told a bullpen pitcher "hey man did you see my start? or did you blink?" The image above depicts the score of tonight's game, which I was awarded a no decision for, thanks to an 11 run 4th by our offense.
My line for the night:
.1 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 7 ER (2 inherited), 3 BB, 1 K
I have been doing what I can to learn from this game called baseball. At the same time, I have been doing my best to teach Kendall, through the ups and downs. In all diligence, I have had my hands full this year, not because Kendall isn't brushed up on her baseball, but because she has such an appetite to understand what I understand. She is...I'm happy to say, well on her way. There is so much to understand about this game, and learning the trade takes a lifetime, ask Joe Coleman, a man who has been in baseball nearly 50 years. He'll tell you he still has a lot to learn. Although he is a wealth of knowledge, he still doesn't have the game figured out. Today was an important learning experience for us both. I didn't have desired results tonight, actually the worst results, but I did gain something I can't put a price on. Knowledge. As I grow up, I learn more about being a husband, a baseball player, and most importantly, a son of God.
I learned more about my relationship with God after this start than I did about baseball, but I can honestly, and proudly say, that since becoming a Man of God, experiences like these have proven more valuable than I would otherwise expect. My identity isn't weighed in my successes and failures on the field, but in Christ. And the freedom I feel from that truth motivates me to be the best man, husband, and baseball player I can be. I am truly liberated, as a man living a dream. Perfect God. I'm learning.
Here you can see me releasing a lizard we caught in our living room. Florida sure is different, but we have become quite fond of the excitement and change of pace living down here has brought.
A close up of our friend, he was a little timid at first, but then dashed out of the "cereal box trap" onto the ground, to bask in the florida sun we enjoy!
Don't let the picture fool you, I didn't really iron this shirt, Kendall just insisted on photographing my attempt at helping. I held the iron while she took the picture, and then proceeded to taking the iron from me, to show me how its done. My shirt was wrinkle free in no time!
