The Audacious Ostrich and Giant Giraffe
The Lion Country Safari is Florida's only drive through safari, and it's right here in our own Jupiter backyard!! We had to see it. And for only 20 bucks, our adventure with the animals, the amusement park, and the water park was well worth every cent! With the car moving at 5 MPH, HunterMan climbed up with Mama and we took off for our time in the wild!
When this is the first thing you see in a day, you know you're in for a good one. Hahaha. Strangest animal we saw. I don't think I'm much of a fan of their cuteness. Or lack thereof.
We were given a list of all the animals we might see during our trek. It certainly came in useful when we spotted something unfamiliar. Truth be told, most of the creatures were pretty unfamiliar! Lots of antelope-type guys with crazy horns and funny faces!
Hunter had an incredible time, both riding shotgun and admiring the wildlife. He's not been getting many naps lately; we just haven't had much time for them. But my Sweet Pea is a trooper and doesn't mind one bit. Especially when he gets to see interesting and new things like these crazy animals!
We saw lions.
And Adams.
(Doesn't he look like Uncle?! Hehehe)
And more crazy Adams.
And LittleMan even got to take the wheel.
And while he was at the wheel, Oscar the CRAZY Ostrich decided to pay us a little visit. Hunter didn't like this one bit.
Oscar came up to our window and slammed his beak right into it! Twice!!! At this, Hunter screamed wildly and flung himself at Mama. He didn't let go of her for 10 minutes, as he clung on for dear life. Ellie and I couldn't stop laughing! Haha...I mean, when's the last time a stinkin ostrich banged his crazy looking face on your car?!
This is what we described to Hunter as "The Big Pig." He still hadn't recovered from the shock of ostrich by the time we reached the rhinoceros, so we gave it a little bit of a better name. Big Pig sounded good to us! He really liked Big Pig and eventually started calling it Rhino!
It's official, Zebras are WHITE with BLACK stripes. Saw it with my own two eyes.
We also saw monkeys, alligators, water buffalo, camels, llamas, turtles, snakes, birds, flamingos, fish, and giraffe.
At the end of the Safari's road, an amusement park was waiting. Hunter was a hot boy by then, so we stripped him of his shirt, stuck him in the stoller, and gave him lots and lots of water. We found a shaded cave and he enjoyed the retreat from the beaming sun.
They even offered a petting zoo in the park! For free! This was Big Boy's first ever experience with a goat. We explained to him that Nana used to have lots of goats, but he didn't seem to care much. He was actually more interested in the mechanics of the entrance gate than the actual animals themselves! Go figure.
The three of us outside the petting zoo! I love my friends.
AND I LOVE GIRAFFES.
Love them.
When I found out that we were allowed to feed them, I about lost it.
Giraffes eat 70 pounds of food every day, not including when they graze. Right here, it looks like this giraffe was going for Hunter's head instead of his lettuce! And LittleMan, again, panicked, screamed, and clung tightly to Mama. I would be afraid too if a gigantic giraffe stuck his tongue out at me!
But this guy didn't go after my head. Only the food in my fingers! And I was, and still am, so excited that I actually got to feed a giraffe. A giraffe!! Wahoo!! They're my most favorite animal. Tall and spotted...just like me!
By 4:30, it was hot, we were tired, and in desperate need of some relaxation. Good thing for us, the Lion Country Safari comes fully equipped with a miniature water park! Hunter enjoyed every second of his wet and wild adventure! What a precious boy! Gosh, he's the most adorable baby I've ever seen. And I'm not even biased!
I love us together. So much.
And I love the three of us even more. We enjoyed another incredible day. So many new firsts. And we're looking forward to many more in the next few days!
And we cannot leave out tonight's dinner. Homemade (by Ellie) chicken alfredo. When Adam tried his first bite, he said it tasted better than the Olive Garden (and that's his favorite!!) That's it. We're keeping them here forever.
OH!!! AHHHHH! It's the end of my post. Usually at this time, I'd get into the truck, drive over a block, park in front of our old apartment, high jack their internet connection, and then post my blog. NOT TONIGHT! We finally, after 28 days, have CABLE AND INTERNET!! And it works! Wahoooo!
Looks like you guys are having a great week!
