Day Two Hundred and Sixty-Five

The Savannah Beach

This is how excited Alejandra and I were when we finally reached the beach...all smiles and ready for a few hours in the sun. We've been feeling especially "white" lately and the 90 degree weather seemed to be the perfect remedy. We never considered the wind though...holy smokes. I've never been more uncomfortable at the beach in my entire life. It hurt. And no, I'm not talking about a sunburn. We weren't there long enough for me to get one. The wind along the shore was so strong that it began whipping sand around, pricking our legs and scratching our eyes. There was no way we could lay down and enjoy our little beach break. And so...

We started writing on the wet sand instead. This was Alejandra's creation. I happen to think it's the most beautiful piece of artwork I've seen in a long time! :)

After about, oh, 10 minutes of sand torture, our faces turned sour. 24 miles of driving for this?! Doh! We were mad girls! But still, we're thankful to have seen yet another part of this beautiful country together. The Savannah Beach was less than impressive, but hey, at least we know that now! There's a few more cool places to check out over the next few days, and I'm confident that Savannah will redeem itself!
