Day One Hundred and Sixty-Seven

The Downtown Date

While I write this, I can see my husband, sitting comfortably in his bean bag chair, book in hand, hair flowing freely, his body as big as it's ever been. We just got back from a most wonderful date downtown, and I feel like the newness of my life is finally setting in. This city keeps surprising me, my husbands keeps surprising me, and beginning tomorrow, the game that brought us down here will surely be filled with them too. But before we find ourselves wrapped up in the career he's chosen to pursue, with all its insecurities and unknowns, successes and failures, we got to enjoy one last night alone. Just the two of us. Doing what we do best. Holding hands and talking life. He took me to The Cheesecake Factory, one of our favorites that both of us suggested to each other at the same time. It's in those moments that I wonder if we're operating by the same brain. We think alike most often, coming to a similar conclusion before ever voicing them. It's a neat feeling to be so in sync with another person. I sure do love him. Even if he doesn't treat me to dessert. I made sure to take a picture of the cheesecake that he never lets us buy. He always ends up eating too much, and I wouldn't dare eating one of those calorie monsters alone, so I just look at them through the glass and hope that someday, he'll either eat less or have a bigger appetite. Hopefully the latter though. Because those cheesecakes sure are good. After, we stepped outside to the balmy Florida night, the air alive with music, laughter, and expensive cars. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Rolls Royce, they've got them all down here, and these people aren't afraid to show them off. They like nice cars, and luckily too, they like sweet music. In the center of the plaza, a stage was set for a small band, complete with a harp and an acoustic guitar. The woman's voice was lovely, and together, we listened to their songs, saw an old couple dance to the rhythm, and watched a tiny train filled with children pass by. It's all I could hope for on a night out with my best friend, and I'm hoping that I'll get to see many more of these nights...even during season. Tomorrow starts his journey to the Bigs, and I'm excited to watch his dreams come true.

Also, I finished the third and final book of "The Hunger Games" series today. I started it yesterday. In a little more than a week, I've read them all, and recommend them to every single person alive!!! If you're planning on seeing the movie in March, do yourself a favor and read it first. Please!
