The Guest Teacher
So, I'm not quite sure what the etiquette is on taking pictures during a sermon? Not going to lie, I felt a bit weird. But Sundays at Family Church are a big part of our lives, and to leave it out of 365 just because it's church didn't seem like a good enough excuse. So, using only the stealthiest of techniques, I managed to quickly snap a photo, with Adam's chest as my shield. Something about sneaky and sermon don't mesh well for me, but hey, I think God's ok with me on this one. Ironically this morning, before heading to service, I decided to take my camera along to capture a familiar scene at church. What we got, however, wasn't familiar at all. At least not to us. Our pastor, Jimmy Scroggins, normally presents God's word on Sunday, but today, a face recognizable on shows like The O'Reilly Factor, Larry King Live, Dateline NBC, Good Morning America, and the Today Show, stood before us instead. Dr. Albert Mohler Jr. is the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, which is on of the largest seminaries in the world, and a dear friend and mentor to Jimmy. His mission is to address contemporary issues from a consistent and explicit Christian worldview, and his passion for the Kingdom has landed him in the public's eye. It was a joy to have him at FC today as our guest speaker, but a picture of Jimmy would've been just as sweet.
