Day One Hundred and Thirty-Five

The Flat Tooth

It was his turn to sit in the hot seat. Turns out, unsurprisingly, that Adam's teeth are just as solid as his fastball. Sometimes I just wish he'd let me beat him at something. I can't even compete with him at an enamel level! Sheesh! You'd think that for a guy who took the highroad when it came to oral care during his early years of college would be suffering by now. Not so. Even after three years of a (disgusting) chewing tobacco habit, his teeth are pearly white and as beautiful as ever! Thank you Sonicare and Kendall Mays. She gave Adam two options: kick the habit, or lose the girl. I'm thinking he made the right choice on both ends: he got the girl AND he's cancer free with some shiny, beautiful chompers! And, there's some hope for our kids now too! Dr. Benson did, however, give us a tiny bit of unfortunate news: one of Adam's teeth is "40 years old" because he's ground the tooth down so much (he might have to get a night guard) and also, his wisdom teeth are growing in sideways! We might have to get those yanked out next offseason, but we'll give it some time before making that decision. Overall, a successful day at the dentist! Again!

Onto the dismal part of our day, however. Early this morning, I was struck with devastating news: my mom's house was broken into WHILE my two younger sisters were in the home. As they sat terrified in their room, they could hear the burglars rummaging through the personal items of our house. The police was called immediately, but the perpetrators were not caught. Peace of mind is lacking significantly as of now. Not one of us got any sleep last night. When the security of your home is in jeopardy, unease and distrust are nearby. Mom and Dan are currently looking into finding a new home and we pray that this happens quickly.

On a lighter note, MOM COMPLETED HER PSYCHOLOGY DEGREE TODAY!! She's put in 4 years of crazy, busy, and stressful days to pull this off and we couldn't be more proud of her. Congratulations, Mommy, we love you and can't wait to see where the Lord takes you from here!
