The Sanctuary at Busch Wildlife
Just 4 miles away, on the street of Jupiter Drive, rests one of the city's most peaceful attractions. The Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is home to various orphaned, devastated, sick, hurt, and battered Florida wildlife, most who are released back into their natural habitats once rehabilitated. From Florida alligators, to black bears, to panthers, eagles, fox, otters, parrots, snakes, and turtles, we got a glimpse of what sort of creatures roam our neck of the woods. We were pleasantly surprised with the variety of wildlife, especially considering some of the animals didn't seem fitting for a climate with such high temperatures? And to think only alligators and turkey claimed this land! Not so! :)
Here, each one of us measured our wing span in comparison to several different species of bird. Looks like Adam might've been a bald eagle in his past life? ;) With arms outstretched, Adam reaches 8 entire feet in this photo! If only it was an accurate measurement! He'd probably look funny with an 8 foot wing span anyways, but could you imagine how that would translate to pitching!? (Always thinking about baseball these days...that's what a husband will do to a girl, I guess!) Anyways, we enjoyed another sunny December day together, as our continual exploration of Florida life broadens. With only one more day left of her vacation, Katy's seen a good portion of what Adam and I experience daily, but tomorrow, we'll have to finish her trip off with an explanation point! We'll see what happens...
