Day One Hundred and Four

The Movie Night

We got a bit of a reminder today: swimming and sunshine together make for one lazy night ahead. This morning, while Adam and Katy went Christmas-dinner grocery shopping, I stayed home and completed our homemade stockings. They're finally finished, and for my first project, I'm 100% excited about them. Nevermind the squared off toes or unravelling burlap. Our stockings rock. Flaws and all. Once I get more acquainted with my sewing machine, there's no stopping me! It wasn't until mid afternoon that we made it to the pool. The sun was as hot as I can remember it being in the past month, so between working on our tans and swimming 50 laps, we were tired puppies by the time we cozied up on our couch for movie night. The mood was perfected with another batch of Amy Martin's should-be-famous Taco Soup, a few lit candles, and a Christmas Palm glowing peacefully in peripheral. The cinnamon sticks and candy canes, along with Katy's lime jello sugar cookies and a cuddly blanket reminded me of cozy winter nights in Washington with the family I miss dearly.  The Conleys are so excited for our first Christmas season together, and although we're missing the Washington folk, we're also ready to begin some new holiday traditions of our own!
