Day Eighty-Five

The Northwest Reunion

I'm writing this with two and a half hours of sleep under my belt. So if I sound, look, or appear unfamiliar, you'll just have to excuse me and my severe lack of judgement. Adam and I spent yesterday scrubbing, scouring, and packing. Well, that didn't end after I posted last night. We were up until 12:30 AM, piecing together the last bit of luggage. Our departure time? 5:45 AM. Our wake up call? 3:00 AM. If I counted correctly (which has proven quite the task for my mindless brain today), we managed a mere two and a half hours of sleep before being thrown into the final craze of putting it all together, locking it up, and saying goodbye. Bad time management on my part? You bet.

Our flights combined were seven hours long. Not bad considering our most recent trip to Kentucky took 20 hours. And we only drove 1/4 of the distance. But attempting sleep on a Boeing 757 just doesn't happen pleasantly, so I guess you could say there's some give and take when it comes to travel. We landed at 10:30 AM Pacific Time, which means that I got a whole lot more out of my day than any of you did! Three hours, to be exact! And I got to spend a few of those at a lovely Red Robin lunch with two of the most amazing men I know. My Daddy treated us to yummy food and lively conversation and after, Larry took time out of his day to fetch our freezing bodies from the severe elements of the Northwest and deliver us back to our old stomping grounds. Oh, and before I forget, my dad just completed his second round (of six) of Chemo on Wednesday! He's feeling great and looks even better! It's amazing to me that he's been able to handle this process with such grace and strength. And with a smile too! Your thoughts and prayers are always appreciated.

Today's taken it's toll, but we're so happy to be back. We managed a flight across the country, a lunch date, Christmas decorating at Katy's, a beautiful church service, and now, we're officially beat. Time for bed.
